Community Highlights: Meet Ciera Veale of HAIRISLOVEBYCEE

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciera Veale.

Hi Ciera, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Ciera Veale—but everyone calls me “CEE.” I’ve been doing hair for as long as I can remember. As a little girl, I’d spend hours in the mirror doing my own hair, and soon I was the girl in the neighborhood doing everybody else’s. School picture day? I had my sister’s hair done. Hair days were my happy place—it’s always been more than a hobby for me.
In 2013/2014, I started getting back into locs. I was doing my best friend’s hair, and he encouraged me to start taking more clients. That push was everything. At first, it was trial and error, but I stayed with it and started to get in my groove. My client list grew fast. I was working full-time, 12-hour shifts, and still doing hair before work, after work, or on my only days off. Some days I would take up to seven clients in one day—the grind was nonstop. But I loved it.
After I graduated high school in 2011, I went through a tough season where I experienced homelessness. That chapter shaped me—it gave me a fire to never let my circumstances define me again. Since then, I’ve always had a different kind of hustle. I worked multiple jobs at once to stay afloat, and that level of drive has stayed with me to this day.
Even when I had a fractured wrist, I can’t sit still. It’s just not in me. I may have to slow down a little, but I’ll never stop. If I’m not behind the chair, I’m working on new products or prepping for 1-on-1 classes. Outside of hair, I’m deeply into fitness too. I work out daily, run a fitness page as well. Whether it’s hair or health, I’m all about helping people feel like their best selves.
Everything I know about hair, I taught myself. No beauty school—just me, my curiosity, and the internet. I’m a fast learner and not afraid to try something new. That’s something my clients really love about me. When they come to me, they know they’re getting more than a hairstyle—they’re getting an experience. The vibe is unmatched. Clients sip wine, relax, and feel truly taken care of. That’s what makes me different. My clients even call my hands “The Magic Hands”—because somehow, they always leave feeling transformed inside and out.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come, and how many lives I’ve touched through my work. I know my stepdad is watching from above, proud that I’m living the dream we always talked about. For me, this isn’t just business—it’s personal. It’s purpose. And the grind never stops.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t been smooth, and that’s been one of my greatest teachers. I faced setbacks, made hard decisions, and learned through trial and error. Those challenges shaped how I operate today and helped me grow into a stronger, more thoughtful business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
What’s important to understand is that, for Black women, achieving this level of business success is rarely easy. Systemic barriers and limited access to resources make the journey more challenging. This business stands as a result of perseverance, vision, and disciplined execution.

I’m known for blessing crowns, doing unmatched work, and bringing an energy that makes every client feel seen, valued, and elevated.

I specialize in servicing locs and repairing them—restoring strength, health, and confidence from the root to the crown.

I’m known for intentional work that transforms crowns, restores confidence, and leaves clients feeling as powerful as they look.

My energy and vibes will always set me apart, along with my passion for what I do. Anything I put my hands on—whether locs or natural hair—is treated with intention and care. My passion is unmatched, and that’s exactly why clients continue to choose me. My work and my word speak for themselves.

I’m most proud of building a strong, sustainable foundation for my brand. Success isn’t guaranteed in business, and the ability to create something lasting is a blessing. My name and my brand carry real meaning, and seeing my clients organically share and stand behind my work is unmatched.

I want readers to understand that my brand is different by design. I’m not a traditional business owner or loc stylist—my energy, passion, and story set me apart. Everything I do is centered around love, intention, and extensive loc knowledge.

I specialize in locs, loc repair, braids, and twists, all offered through a luxury experience. I also handcraft my own hair products, including shea butter, hydration spray, and hair oil. Each product is created through intentional research and client-tested results.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t really believe in “good luck” or “bad luck.” I believe that everything happens for a reason, and what’s meant for you will always find its way to you. Every struggle and every storm is part of the process, shaping us into who we’re meant to become.
