Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Lynsey Johnson, DNP, APRN, FNP-C.
Hi Dr. Lynsey , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a Nurse Practitioner who personally has struggled with PCOS/ PMOS as a young woman. It was very difficult to find doctors who knew how to diagnosis it much less treat it. I quickly realized this was still the case decades later. This inspired me to found PCOS Sisters Telehealth Clinic & Wellness Center in 2022 in Atlanta, GA and the state of FL. We then expanded to TX and Virginia shortly thereafter. We have now expanded to 10 states helping women like myself with Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) formerly known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). The name was officially changed in May of 2026. Telehealth allows us to reach women throughout the USA that struggle to find a PCOS/ PMOS Specialist. In fact, the misdiagnosis/undiagnosed rate is estimated to be 70% and PMOS affects 10-20% of all women globally. That is not a small number. Half of us develop diabetes by age 40 and we have a 19% increased risk for cardiovascular events. The name change to PMOS brings awareness to the long-term metabolic risks of untreated PMOS with 80% of us being obese or overweight. There are much broader health concerns beyond the ovary and infertility. Although it is still considered the #1 cause of infertility in reproductive aged women.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With any new business doing something no one has attempted (Telehealth delivery of a niche women’s health condition) there are always struggles and roadblocks. It is persistence that pays off. When I opened my doors in 2022, within 6 months the demand was so great with women reaching out from all over the world, some even flew into Atlanta or Florida from Europe to be seen virtually within the state borders. That is when I knew I must expand further to help more women with PMOS. We now partner with fertility clinics, hair removal clinics, primary care, and GYNs to provide specialized care.

How do you think about luck?
I would say it’s not luck at all. It’s the ability to notice opportunity and identify problems and solutions when no one else seems to notice or mind. Also, the confidence to implement the opportunity and bring together a team and community. A great idea is just an idea, but understanding how to make it happen, that’s the difference. Then persistence and weathering through the storm. So many business owners give up too soon. So many lucky opportunities present themselves throughout the day but not everyone seizes them. I also believe staying curious and treating everyone as valuable is key. No person should be overlooked. It’s not the title that brings a good team together, its willingness to think outside the box, creativity and critical thinking is so important. To move any great idea forward, you need yourself and others to say, Let’s do it! otherwise, that lucky moment will pass to someone who is willing to take the leap. This is why I don’t believe in good or bad luck. I believe in opportunities that are seized (good luck) and unnoticed problems (bad luck). Stay curious and keep your eyes open!
