Today we’d like to introduce you to Thérèse Prentice.
Hi Thérèse, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
For decades, I have asked women, “How do you want to feel inside your life?” That question connects the many chapters of my story. After my husband’s death five years ago, it became a question I needed to sit with and answer more deeply for myself.
My entrepreneurial background began in the wedding industry. In the early nineties, I was a highly sought-after wedding consultant and produced Majestic Brides, New York City’s first Black bridal expo for brides of color. My work appeared in the bridal scene of House Party 3 and was featured on The Geraldo Show, in The New York Times, and in Brides of Color Magazine.
After meeting my husband, I retired from the wedding industry in 1995 and pursued more opportunities in technology. My core professional background is in project management, organizational development, and corporate training. I worked at DoubleClick before and after its IPO, then moved into organizational development consulting. A professional relationship subsequently led me to HBO in 1999, where I was hired as an Operations Manager and later promoted to Director of Operations for Internet Ventures.
When I was downsized at the end of 2000, I decided I didn’t want to return to corporate life. I had studied coaching in the early nineties under my mentor, Thomas Leonard, and chose to build on that training. Coaching has been a continuous thread in the fibers of my life ever since.
Holistic wellness has been another thread, beginning with my study of aromatherapy in my twenties. My curiosity continued to deepen over the years. I became a Reiki Master Teacher, a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, and a Certified Crystal Healer, and graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. For more than twenty-five years, I have studied with master herbalists across Wise Woman, spiritual, ancestral, and traditional herbal practices. These studies are integrated into the lifestyle I live and teach.
Through Eclectic Soul Collective, I helped women in the holistic wellness space build businesses and become herbalists through my trademarked program, Herbalism in a Weekend®. During the pandemic, I became widely known on Clubhouse for my intimate conversations about life, love, herbalism, and spirituality. Those conversations helped Herbalism in a Weekend® reach record numbers of graduates.
Beginning in 2020, I started studying Cardology, which led me to Astrology, Numerology, and ultimately Human Design. Those explorations deepened my self-awareness, then my self-trust, and eventually my self-possession.
After my husband’s death, I stepped away from what I had been doing to spend time with myself. It was a period of deep reflection and refinement. As I explored how I wanted to feel inside my own life, I recognized how much more of myself I wanted to bring into my work. People knew me for herbalism and business building, and I had a broader body of knowledge and lived experience to share. I wanted who I had become to be expressed more fully in my daily life, my work, and love.
SolLuna Sanctuary was birthed out of those deeply reflective days of healing as a widow. Eclectic Soul Collective was my holistic wellness teaching and mentoring chapter. SolLuna Sanctuary is the integration of my life’s work. I describe it as the inner and outer Thérèse meeting in Sacred Union.
Today, I work with the woman who feels she has done everything right. She went to school, earned the degrees, built the corporate career, and perhaps married and raised children. Yet she finds herself sitting on the side of her bed thinking, “There has got to be more to life than this.” She secretly craves more joy, love, and ease. She wants to feel fulfilled and to feel that her life matters.
Our work begins with The Unveiling™, a conversation that helps us explore where she is, what feels missing or out of alignment, and how she wants to feel inside her life.
I invite her to step into possibility with me: “If time and money were no object, what would you do? Why would you do it? If you could do anything in the world, what would you do tomorrow?”
Those questions give her space to begin naming what she craves. From there, we explore how to bring those possibilities into her daily life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of my struggles has been feeling invisible in a visible world.
People have often recognized the structured, responsible woman who can organize, lead, and bring things together. Alongside those capabilities has been a human, sensitive, caring woman who wants to be seen, heard and known, too. Those parts of me have often felt less visible.
During my deeply reflective journey over the past five years, following my husband’s death, has helped me understand myself more fully and make room for that woman to be seen. I spent time asking how I wanted to feel inside my own life and exploring how to express who I had become through my daily life, work, and love.
My personal reflective journey is part of what brought SolLuna Sanctuary into being. It holds the depth and breadth of my knowledge and lived experience, together with the sensitivity and care of the woman behind the life, love and work.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
SolLuna Sanctuary is my lived experience and life’s work held within a framework designed to bring a woman’s inner and outer worlds into Sacred Union.
My proprietary framework, “The Intimacy of Femininity”, unfolds through three movements: AWAKEN, EMBODY, and LIVE. AWAKEN invites her to know herself more intimately. EMBODY guides her to honor what she knows with Deep Care. LIVE explores how her knowing becomes expressed through her relationships, surroundings, pleasures, and everyday choices.
Together, these movements embrace Mind, Body, and Soul, guiding a woman toward the life she secretly craves.
I bring decades of coaching, holistic study, organizational development, and lived wisdom into a deeply personal experience. Our private work begins with The Unveiling™, where we explore the woman she is and the possibilities she is ready to receive.
At the heart of all I offer is one question: “How do you want to feel inside your life?”
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Create what you secretly crave. Create what is burning in your soul. It is your purpose asking to be birthed.
When I was in high school, I knew I wanted to be free to be myself. Looking back, I wish I had trusted that dream and followed it sooner. It took me years to arrive at a place I had already been longing for.
My advice is to pay attention to what keeps calling you and keeps showing up. Give it your curiosity, your care, and a structure through which it can manifest into reality.
As you build your work, keep asking yourself whether it allows you to feel how you desire to feel and live how you want to feel. The feeling of freedom was at the heart of my dream from the very beginning.
