Hi Brandy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
All I can say is WOWWWWW!
I began my entrepreneurial journey more than 26 years ago, and time truly flies. I can hardly believe I haven’t worked a J.O.B. — just over broke — in over two decades.
My story started in the legal field as a legal secretary, eventually becoming a legal assistant. But the long hours, lack of appreciation, and little concern for employees made me realize this wasn’t how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. My original goal was to become an attorney, yet after experiencing the industry firsthand, I discovered that path simply wasn’t for me.
Because I’ve always loved people and had a deep desire to help others, I made the decision to enter the financial services industry, and it has been one of the best decisions of my life. Has it always been easy? Of course not. Every industry has its challenges. But the pros have far outweighed the cons, and I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.
I am incredibly grateful that I chose to lock arms with American Classic Agency. Their culture of care, support, and commitment to both clients and agents is a major reason I am where I am today. After more than 25 years together, we are still growing, still serving, and honestly… just getting started. Few companies in financial services can say their agents stay 15, 20, even 25+ years and that says everything about who we are.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not! It has not been a smooth road. Like any entrepreneurial journey, especially in the financial services industry, there have been real challenges along the way.
Early on, I experienced things many people never see from the outside looking in such as chargebacks, uncertain clients, no-shows, canceled appointments, and moments where the effort didn’t immediately match the reward. There were seasons that tested my patience, my faith, and my commitment to the vision. And anyone who tells you this industry is easy — simply hasn’t lived it long enough.
But here’s the truth: the pros far outweigh the cons.
What kept me going was knowing the impact of the work! Helping families protect what matters most, eliminate debt, and build real wealth for their future. Over time, experience changes everything. You learn to:
• Communicate your value more clearly
• Attract and serve the right clients
• Set better expectations and boundaries
• Build consistency and stability in your business
Eventually, you stop chasing everyone and start choosing your audience wisely! AND… that’s when the journey becomes not only sustainable, but truly rewarding.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth… but it has absolutely been worth it.

At the heart of my work is helping people truly understand the value of life insurance, not just as a death benefit, but as a powerful financial tool that can transform a family’s future.
I specialize in showing individuals and business owners how properly structured life insurance can become a vehicle for generational wealth, offering incredible tax advantages, living benefits, and long-term financial security. Many people have never been taught that life insurance can be used strategically to help pay off a 30-year mortgage, eliminate student loans and credit card debt in 9 years or less, and build wealth at the same time. That level of financial clarity is life-changing, and it’s something I’m deeply passionate about delivering.
I’m also proud of the work we do in retirement preparation, helping individuals create stability, income, and peace of mind for the years ahead so they can retire with dignity, not uncertainty. AND, right now, our country is in a retirement crisis!
For business owners, we provide guidance on putting the right protections in place in the event of losing a key employee, while also designing Executive Bonus strategies that reward and retain top-performing team members. It’s about protecting the business today while strengthening it for tomorrow.
What sets me apart is not just knowledge or experience but it’s how I genuinely and deeply care, and the education, and impact I provide. I take time to help clients see possibilities they didn’t know existed and create strategies that serve them while they are living, not just after they’re gone.
What I’m most proud of is simple:
The number of lives, families, and businesses that are more secure, more confident, and more hopeful because of the work we do.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
One of the things I appreciate most about Portsmouth, Virginia is the growth and expansion happening throughout the city. You can truly feel the momentum, new development, fresh innovation, and a renewed sense that Portsmouth is stepping more boldly onto the map. It’s exciting to witness and even more exciting to be part of a community that is evolving and creating new opportunities for residents, families, and business owners.
Serving as an Ambassador for one of our local chambers, Black Brand, has given me a unique perspective on the incredible potential within our business community. We have talented, passionate entrepreneurs and leaders who are doing amazing work every day. However, I do wish they would come out and support our events more and I’m working on trying to get the word out better.
AND… if there’s one thing I wish for even more, it would be greater collaboration among business owners. I strongly believe that collaboration brings elevation and when we truly support, partner, and grow together, the entire city rises. Increased involvement, shared vision, and intentional connection can take Portsmouth to levels we’ve only begun to imagine.
Overall, I’m proud of where our city is headed and grateful to play a small role in helping move that vision forward.
