Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney.
Hi Britney , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
SoBeHer was launched in 2024 2 month after my first book release. I had been sober at the time for 2 years. God was calling me out of hiding to begin to share my testimony more about being free from alcohol addiction and that’s how my book was birthed. Sober Letters To The Nights I Can’t Remember. I had my first drink at the age of 12 and had been drinking until I was 24. June 9th 2022 I had an encounter with Jesus Christ that changed my life and freed me from addiction. As i began to walk through the process of healing. God began to show me who he called me to be all along. So now with SoBeHer the assignment is to show women that regardless of the pain and trauma that you may have been through. There is still a beautiful plan for you! God has created us with a special purpose and we can still fulfill our assignment. Without shame, guilt, or living low. I Book vending events now and set up my merch table as a way to tell my story and share it !
Recently this year I launched Sober Me. Which is a mocktail business to also encourage people that you can have fun sober ! I hosted an open mic night called Say It Sober. To encourage young adults that there is safety in being sober physically, mentally and spiritually.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not drinking has been the easiest thing I ever walked through. The taste and desire literally was taken from me. However the healing from the things i experienced in my addiction was rough. Shame took over and i became angry at one point that this was my story. I felt like people were going to judge me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My every day job is being a Makeup Artist. And I also vend and sell merch for my business SoBeHer and book events to make drinks for SoberMe.
All 3 I’m able to reach different people and share the same message. You are who God says you are! I believe that sets me apart. I love money yes but that’s not what I do it for. I do it because there are people who use to be where I once was and I had no one to help me see better in myself. So in my creativity I’m able to also inspire, encourage, and show there is more to it than what you have already experienced
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I was raised in Virginia Beach but I now live in Hampton. I really don’t have any complaints all of my friends and church family live close by so I’m enjoying it for now.
