Today we’d like to introduce you to Lise Pampaloni.
Hi Lise, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Lise — mom to five amazing humans, granny to eight sweet littles (and counting!), and the hands behind Blessed by Bread.
When I’m not elbow-deep in flour, you’ll find me savoring a rich espresso with my family, writing children’s books, gazing at the stars, or curled up by the fire on chilly winter nights with hot chocolate and my Bible.
My love for baking runs deep. I grew up with an amazing grandmother who baked every Friday for whoever was stopping by her house each weekend. She never knew who was coming, but she always knew there would be someone.
There is something magical about transforming simple, healthy ingredients into nourishing loaves. Maybe it’s the way bread brings people together, or how the rhythm of baking mirrors life’s beautiful messiness. Either way, I believe every loaf should tell a story… of patience, care, and God’s goodness in the everyday.
What started as a simple love for baking slowly grew into something more. I discovered that sharing a loaf of homemade bread was about so much more than food. It was a way to show kindness, bring a little comfort, and remind someone that they matter.
And that’s how Blessed by Bread came to be.
I chose the name because I truly believe that everything we have is a blessing from God, and what better way to share those blessings than through something made with love?
Sourdough takes time. There are no shortcuts, and I think that’s part of what makes it so special. In a world that moves so quickly, I love creating something that requires patience, intention, and a little faith.
My hope is that every loaf that leaves my kitchen brings a little joy to someone’s table and perhaps becomes part of a sweet memory.
Because to me, it’s never been just about the bread. It’s about the blessing of sharing it. ❤️
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With sourdough, nothing is quite as simple as it seems. The changing seasons, the humidity in the air, even the temperature of my kitchen… every little detail affects the dough. Many loaves have ended up in the trash over the years, and my neighborhood is home to the best fed birds in all of Loudoun County! 😂
No two days are exactly alike, and no two batches are ever quite the same. It takes patience, attention, and a willingness to adjust along the way. I still hold my breath every time I open the oven to see what my loaves looks like!
I’ve learned that sourdough can’t be rushed or forced. It has its own rhythm, and part of the beauty is learning to work with it rather than against it.
And perhaps that’s what I love most about it. It’s a gentle reminder that some of the best things in life take time, a little perseverance, and a whole lot of faith.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Blessed by Bread is my little home-based microbakery in Loudoun County, Virginia, where I specialize in handcrafted sourdough breads and baked goods. From traditional sourdough loaves to cinnamon rolls, and seasonal muffins, everything is made from scratch in small batches, with a whole lot of care and attention to detail.
What makes sourdough so special to me is also what makes it challenging. It’s a slow process that simply cannot be rushed. The dough requires patience, careful attention, and sometimes a little troubleshooting! But there’s something incredibly satisfying about taking a handful of simple ingredients and turning them into something beautiful and delicious.
I think what sets Blessed by Bread apart is the personal touch. I’m not a commercial bakery with machines turning out hundreds of identical loaves. It’s just me, my kitchen, and a genuine love for what I do. Every batch is mixed, shaped, and baked by hand. I care about the ingredients I use, the quality of what comes out of my oven, and the people who will eventually gather around a table to enjoy it.
What am I most proud of? Honestly, it’s not a particular loaf or recipe. It’s the relationships that have grown through this little business. There’s something so rewarding about having someone come back for another loaf, hearing that their family loved something I baked, or knowing that my bread has become part of someone’s family gathering or holiday tradition.
My faith is also a big part of why I chose the name Blessed by Bread. I believe God gives each of us gifts and opportunities to bless others, sometimes in the simplest ways. For me, that happens to involve flour, water, salt, and a very busy kitchen!
At the end of the day, I don’t just want to make good bread. I want to create something worth sharing, something that brings people together, and something that reminds us there’s still a lot of beauty in slowing down and enjoying the simple things in life.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy… Well, the thought of children waking up on Christmas morning to gooey cinnamon rolls made with clean ingredients. A treat that parents feel good about serving to their families.
Or a newlywed couple heading out on a romantic picnic with bread and cheese, made fresh from my kitchen.
Or families gathered around the dinner table, breaking bread together, sharing laughter and conversation, and enjoying the simple blessing of a homemade loaf and time spent with those they love.
It’s an incredible feeling to help bring joy and goodness to people’s lives.
