Hi Ty, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began in the beauty industry, specifically natural hair care, where I spent over 12 years behind the chair helping clients embrace and care for their curls. What started as providing hair services gradually evolved into something deeper. I realized I wasn’t just doing hair — I was educating, building confidence, and helping people reconnect with themselves and their families through hair care.
As my career grew, I became especially passionate about supporting families navigating natural hair care at home. That passion led me into community work and educational programming centered around textured hair education, confidence building, and practical family support. Through workshops, events, and partnerships, I’ve been able to work with families, foster and adoptive caregivers, professionals, and communities in meaningful ways.
A major turning point in my entrepreneurial journey came when I was faced with the decision to close my 3,000 SF creative studio space — a creative home that supported more than 15 beauty professionals. At the time, it felt like a huge shift, but looking back, it became one of my biggest lessons in trusting divine timing. Letting go of that chapter created space for me to grow beyond being a service provider and property manager, and step more fully into education, community impact, writing, and creative entrepreneurship.
Outside of my career, I’m also a girl mom, a creative (the Gemini kind), and someone deeply inspired by wellness, nature, spirituality, and intentional living. Those values naturally became part of my personal brand and the work I create.
Today, my work exists at the intersection of beauty, wellness, creativity, family, and community. I’ve transitioned from primarily working behind the chair to building educational experiences, community initiatives, and creative resources designed to empower others.
Looking back, every transition, especially the difficult ones, has felt like part of divine timing guiding me toward the work I’m meant to do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
One of the biggest ongoing challenges has been learning how to evolve while letting go of versions of myself and my business that I had become very attached to. For many years, I operated fully behind the chair in natural hair care, so transitioning from being a service provider to stepping into education, community work, and creative entrepreneurship required a complete identity shift. That process came with a lot of uncertainty and unlearning.
Another major challenge was closing my 3,000 SF creative studio space. That space wasn’t just a business location. It was a creative home for over 15 creatives and a place where community and entrepreneurship came together. Making the decision to close it was emotionally heavy and required a lot of faith. Even though I understood it was aligned with divine timing, I still had to sit with the grief of letting something so meaningful go.
On a personal level, balancing single motherhood, entrepreneurship, and community work has also required constant adjustment. There were seasons where I had to learn how to slow down, redefine success, and trust that growth doesn’t always look like expansion in the traditional sense.
But each challenge has ultimately shaped how I work today. It taught me to build more intentionally, to trust transitions even when they don’t feel comfortable, and to honor the deeper purpose behind my work instead of just the structure of it.
Looking back, none of those moments broke the vision — they realigned it.

My work sits at the intersection of natural hair education, family support, wellness, and community-centered learning.
I specialize in natural hair education and helping families and professionals feel confident and equipped to care for natural hair in practical, beginner-friendly ways. A large part of my work focuses on supporting youth, biological families, foster families, and adoptive families who may not have been exposed to proper care for textured hair. Through workshops, educational experiences, and community events, I break down natural hair care in a way that is simple, accessible, and confidence-building.
Over the last decade, my work has expanded beyond traditional beauty services into education, writing, and creative entrepreneurship. I now create learning experiences, community programs, and resources that connect beauty with wellness, creativity, and intentional living. Everything I do is rooted in helping people feel more confident in themselves and more connected to their families and communities.
What I’m most proud of is the impact of my work in real time. Seeing families leave my structured learning experiences feeling empowered instead of overwhelmed, seeing foster youth move from uncertainty to confidence, and seeing how education can completely shift how people relate to textured hair.
What sets me apart is that my approach is not just technical. It’s relational and community-centered. I don’t just teach “how to do hair.” I focus on the why behind it: identity, confidence, care, and connection. My background as a specialist, educator, community organizer, and creative entrepreneur allows me to bridge beauty, wellness, and lived experience in a way that feels practical, but also deeply intentional.
At the core of it all, my work is about more than natural hair. It’s about helping people feel seen, capable, and supported — in their homes, in their communities, and in themselves.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as alignment, impact, and peace in the process.
For a long time, I measured success through traditional markers like growth, visibility, and how much I was producing. But over time, especially through different transitions in my business and life, I’ve learned that success is not just about expansion. It’s about alignment with what feels true in each season.
Today, success for me looks like being able to create work that is meaningful and rooted in purpose. It looks like walking in divine timing, even when that timing requires me to slow down, shift, or let go of something I once thought I needed.
Success looks like impact. It’s seeing families leave my workshops feeling more confident, seeing families feel supported instead of overwhelmed, and knowing that my work is making a real difference in how people care for themselves and each other.
On a personal level, success is also peace. It’s being present as a mother, honoring my creativity, and building a life that doesn’t feel separated from who I am at my core.
At this point in my life, success is no longer about doing more. It’s about doing what is aligned, impactful, and sustainable in divine timing.
