Daily Inspiration: Meet Ashlyn Bowden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlyn Bowden.

Hi Ashlyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Food has always been a focal point within my family and in my earliest years I came across to associate food with gathering, connection and celebration. I spent the majority of my teen years borrowing cookbooks from our local library and testing recipes, memorizing sauces and dreaming about opening a restaurant of my own. I started a food blog during college as a way to build a portfolio and it soon led to brand partnerships that sustained the blog for several years. After the birth of my daughter in 2020, and multiple lockdowns, I ached for the chance to share my food in person and Plate Fete Bakery began. I worked out of my home kitchen until fall of 2025 when we transitioned to our own space. Now Plate Fete is a team of seven.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Keeping our operations at pace with our growth is the primary challenge. Many late nights and the occasional 24-hour marathon have been necessary and it’s a struggle to juggle running the bakery while also being a homeschooling mother, but I wouldn’t trade any of it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love feeding people. It’s such an easy way to spread joy and connect. That’s why I chose the name “Plate Fete” because every bite should feel special and celebratory. Life is worth celebrating.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am fully self-taught through cookbooks and plenty of trial and error.
