Daily Inspiration: Meet Caroline Nelin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Nelin.

Hi Caroline, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Coastal Charcuterie started from my love of bringing people together through food and creating beautiful experiences. What began as a small side business quickly grew through word of mouth and community support. Over the past five years, I’ve expanded from creating boards out of my home to opening a storefront in Virginia Beach, catering weddings and events, and partnering with other local businesses. It’s been an exciting journey, and I’m incredibly grateful to do something I genuinely love while helping people celebrate life’s special moments.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any small business, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been wearing so many hats at once—owner, marketer, event coordinator, bookkeeper, and creator. There have been long hours, growing pains, and plenty of trial and error along the way. Opening a storefront was a huge leap of faith, but every challenge has helped me learn, adapt, and build a stronger business. Looking back, those obstacles have been some of my greatest lessons.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As the owner of Coastal Charcuterie, I create elevated charcuterie boards, grazing tables, and catering experiences for weddings, corporate events, and special celebrations. I’m known for combining creativity, hospitality, and attention to detail to create memorable experiences. What I’m most proud of is growing Coastal Charcuterie from a small passion project into a thriving storefront and community-focused business in Virginia Beach.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories was turning a small cutout closet in my playroom into my own “office.” I would spend hours at my little desk coloring, organizing, and pretending to work. Looking back, I think that’s where my entrepreneurial spirit first started. Even as a kid, I loved creating things, staying busy, and imagining what it would be like to run my own business one day.

Pricing:

  • Charcuterie Boards starting at $50
