Daily Inspiration: Meet Jay Grizzo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Grizzo.

Hi Jay, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Began as a stand-up comic here in Richmond VA, chose a corporate career over show business. I got married and had a family but kept close ties to the comedy community, I got in early in 2011 from a comedy promoter into podcasting back then it was called internet radio and that got me into the behind the camera and show production. Covid opened my eyes to how much content creation was going on and I was inspired by some YouTuber but still couldn’t see it all the way until I lost my mom in November 2021 and that led and inspired me to Takin’ No Shorts Podcast because you never know the time or the day so I leave nothing to chance now in my creative and artistic endeavors and it’s been a blessing ever since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has pretty much been smooth sailing all in all. If there was a struggle, I would say sticking to your plan and not revealing your plans to everyone. When you believe in your vision no one can deter you. But I could tell there were some detractors in the beginning and didn’t see the platform I was creating for myself and others. Consistency and showing up is key when starting out building your brand.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve always been a lover of comedy & stand-up comedy due to the contrast of the tragedy and humor and when comics can write and perform that balance of something so bad but make a lot of people laugh and some may not know where it comes from but the saying goes, “there is always a hint of truth in a joke” so it’s just a honest expression of art and happiness that the audience and the comic has that when it clicks it’s something I can’t describe but definitely euphoric! Because of my upbringing I weave a lot in between a lot of worlds that gives me strong and distinct points of view in my comedy and the way I come off to my guest and audience through my podcast

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Always Christmas …early 80’s Mom found a way when Santa said HellToDaNaw 😂
