Daily Inspiration: Meet Jill Mandichak

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Mandichak.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Love Runs Wild Photography has grown into so much more than I ever imagined. What started as a love for capturing real moments has turned into a business built around connection, storytelling, and the belief that the most meaningful photographs are rarely the perfectly posed ones.

As a mom of four, I know firsthand how quickly life moves and how easy it is to get caught up in the chaos of everyday life. Somewhere along the way, I realized that those messy, imperfect, beautifully ordinary moments are often the ones we wish we could get back.

That’s really the heart behind Love Runs Wild.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of documenting everything from growing families and brand-new babies to intimate weddings, motherhood, and all the little chapters in between. I’ve built my business around creating an experience where people can show up exactly as they are, without the pressure of perfection.

After years of growing my business in Northern Virginia, being named Best of Loudoun Photographer in 2026 was an incredible milestone. More recently, I’ve taken another exciting step by helping bring SIX WEST, a creative photography studio in downtown Leesburg, to life.

I think one of the biggest things I’ve learned along the way is that success isn’t necessarily about having everything figured out. It’s about showing up, taking chances, evolving, and staying true to what made you fall in love with something in the first place.

And for me, that’s always been the people, the connections, and the stories worth remembering.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road? Not even close! But I think that’s part of what makes the journey worthwhile.

Building a business while raising four kids and navigating the beautiful chaos of everyday life has definitely come with its challenges. There have been plenty of late nights, missed moments, growing pains, and times when I’ve questioned whether I could realistically do it all. Spoiler alert: I can’t. And learning that has been a lesson in itself.

One of the biggest challenges has been finding the balance between being a mom, a wife, a business owner, and somewhere in there, remembering to make time for myself. When you’re passionate about what you do, it’s easy to pour everything into it. Learning to set boundaries, trust the process, and give myself a little grace hasn’t always come naturally.

The photography industry itself is constantly changing. Between evolving technology, social media, competition, and the pressure to always be creating something new, staying relevant while remaining authentic to my own style has been an ongoing balancing act. I’ve learned that comparison can be a creativity killer, and that building something meaningful matters far more than keeping up with everyone else.

There have also been plenty of business decisions that required taking a leap before I felt completely ready. Growing, changing spaces, investing in new opportunities, and stepping outside my comfort zone haven’t always been easy, but they’ve pushed me forward.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that growth rarely happens when everything is comfortable. Some of my biggest challenges have led to my proudest accomplishments. I wouldn’t necessarily want to relive every bump in the road, but I wouldn’t trade what they’ve taught me, either.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m the owner and photographer behind Love Runs Wild Photography, a lifestyle and documentary-style photography business based in Northern Virginia. I specialize in families, newborns, motherhood, maternity, couples, seniors, intimate weddings, and all the beautifully messy moments that make up a life.

My approach has always been a little less traditional. I’m not interested in making everyone look perfectly posed or creating images that could belong to just anyone. I want the windblown hair, the belly laughs, the tiny hands reaching for mom, the quiet in-between moments, and the kind of connection you can actually feel through a photograph.

I always tell my clients to stop waiting for perfect. Life is happening right now, and it’s worth documenting exactly as it is.

I think what sets me apart is the experience just as much as the photographs themselves. I want people to feel comfortable enough to let their guard down, be themselves, and maybe even forget there’s a camera in front of them. Some of my favorite images come from moments nobody planned.

Over the years, I’ve photographed hundreds of families, welcomed babies into the world, documented love stories, and watched families grow right in front of my lens. Being invited back to capture different chapters of someone’s life is something I’ll never take for granted.

Being voted Best of Loudoun Photographer in 2023 and again in 2026 has been an incredible honor, especially in a community filled with so many talented creatives. But what I’m most proud of isn’t necessarily an award. It’s the relationships I’ve built and the trust people place in me to document moments they’ll never get back.

More recently, I’ve also been involved in bringing SIX WEST to life, a creative photography studio in the heart of downtown Leesburg. It’s been an exciting opportunity to help create a space where photographers can connect, collaborate, experiment, and bring their own artistic visions to life.

At the end of the day, I don’t want to create photographs that simply show what someone looked like. I want to create photographs that remind them what that season of life felt like.

That’s what keeps me picking up my camera.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One of the things I love most about living and working in Loudoun County is the sense of community. There’s still that small-town mentality where people know each other, support local businesses, show up for their neighbors, and genuinely want to see one another succeed. That kind of connection is something I really value, both personally and professionally.

What makes this area especially unique is that we get the best of both worlds. We have the charm of historic downtowns, beautiful countryside, rolling hills, farms, and wide-open spaces, yet we’re just outside one of the country’s largest metropolitan areas. That creates such an interesting mix of people, cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.

As a photographer and creative, I find that incredibly inspiring. Between the landscapes, the architecture, the people, and the stories they bring with them, there’s never a shortage of inspiration. I can spend one day photographing a family on a farm in Loudoun County and the next documenting a completely different story in the heart of DC. I love that variety.

If I had to pick something I like least, it would probably be how quickly our area is growing. Growth brings incredible opportunities, but I also think it’s important that we don’t lose the character, charm, and sense of community that make this place so special in the first place.

At the end of the day, it’s the people who make this area what it is. I feel incredibly fortunate to have built a business in a community that has supported me, trusted me with their stories, and allowed me to be a small part of theirs.
