Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Wang.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Founded in 1985, House of Dynasty has been serving the Northern Virginia community for over four decades, welcoming generations of families through our doors. One of the most rewarding parts of this journey is seeing longtime customers return with their children and grandchildren. It reminds me that House of Dynasty is not just a place to eat. It’s a place where memories are made. My goal is to honor that legacy while continuing to grow and evolve with our community for many years to come.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road.
Like many family-owned businesses, we’ve faced our share of challenges over the years. The restaurant industry is constantly evolving, and we’ve had to adapt to changing customer preferences, rising costs, staffing shortages, new technology, and increasing competition. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success in hospitality is about consistency. Guests may only see the dining experience, but behind the scenes there are countless details that need attention every single day.
While the challenges haven’t always been easy, they’ve helped us become stronger, more adaptable, and more committed to serving our community.
As you know, we’re big fans of House of Dynasty. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
House of Dynasty is a family-owned restaurant that has proudly served Northern Virginia since 1985. For more than four decades, our mission has been simple: bring people together through great food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home.
We specialize in classic Chinese cuisine, offering both traditional favorites and dishes that have become local staples over the years. From our Peking Duck and handmade dumplings to family-style meals shared around a large table, we strive to create an experience that celebrates both food and connection.
What sets us apart is our commitment to consistency and relationships. Many of our guests have been dining with us for decades, and some now bring their children and grandchildren to enjoy the same dishes they grew up with. Those multi-generational relationships are something we treasure and never take for granted.
As a second-generation family business, we are focused on honoring our history while continuing to evolve. We have embraced new technology, community partnerships, special events, and modern marketing while staying true to the values that built our reputation: quality food, genuine hospitality, and treating every guest like family.
What I am most proud of is the trust we have earned within the community. In an industry where restaurants come and go, House of Dynasty has remained a gathering place for celebrations, family dinners, business lunches, and countless memories for over 40 years.
I want readers to know that House of Dynasty is more than a restaurant. It is a family legacy, a community gathering place, and a business built on the belief that great food and genuine hospitality have the power to bring people together.
How do you define success?
Success means knowing that our restaurant has positively impacted people’s lives, whether it’s hosting a family celebration, creating jobs and opportunities for our team, or serving as a gathering place for the community. When guests choose to spend their special moments with us and continue returning year after year, that is one of the greatest measures of success.
I also believe success is about growth. It’s about becoming a better leader, continuing to learn, embracing challenges, and helping others succeed along the way. Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve, and I try to approach both business and life with that mindset.
Ultimately, success is not just about what you achieve for yourself. It’s about the positive impact you leave behind. If I can help preserve my family’s legacy, contribute to my community, and create opportunities for future generations, I would consider that a life well lived and a successful journey.
