Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerome Gunn.
Jerome, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey has truly been about transforming hard work, dedication, and service into something that can benefit others. I experienced what it was like to return home and try to make sense of things without many chances or a clear path after serving in the military. That stuck with me. It inspired me to start something new, a company that not only produces high-quality work but also gives those who are frequently disregarded—especially veterans—real opportunities.
I began to see that this might be more than simply a business as I expanded into cleaning, painting, pressure washing, drywall repair, and property upkeep. I envisioned it as a place where individuals could acquire practical trade skills, where children could experience hands-on work that develops character, and where people could recognize the importance of honest effort. Because I understand what it is like to need assistance and not be able to afford being overcharged, I support fair pricing. Serving people with integrity and ensuring that the work is accessible are important to me.
Since I am aware of how difficult it may be to reintegrate after leaving the military, I also wanted to provide opportunity for other veterans. I wanted to create an environment where veterans could come in, develop, pick up new skills, and accomplish work that will always be important. I wanted to concentrate on skills like actual trade work, genuine service, and real value because AI is changing the world so drastically. That is what sustains me. This firm is more than a company to me. It is a means of helping, educating, inspiring, and creating something enduring for my community and individuals just like me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been easy. Like most business owners, I have had difficulties juggling a number of obligations, handling money, and growing a company while still developing both personally and professionally. There have been periods of uncertainty, and I’ve had to learn via experience, adjust swiftly, and remain constant even when progress felt slow.
Creating chances in settings where they are not always easily accessible has proven to be one of the most difficult tasks, particularly following military service. My viewpoint was altered by that experience, and I became even more determined to create something sustainable not just for myself but also for others who might require a way forward. These challenges have been a necessary part of the process, but they have also made me more intentional, resourceful, and disciplined about the company I am starting.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Reliability, quality, and service are the cornerstones of Veteran Gunn Services, a cleaning and property care business run by veterans. For both residential and commercial clients, we specialize in cleaning, painting, pressure washing, tub reglazing, drywall repair, and general property care. Whether it is a minor cleaning project or a more significant property maintenance requirement, we are renowned for performing meticulous, trustworthy work and treating every task with the same level of attention.
Our approach to the work and the people we serve is what makes us unique. We support reasonable prices, open communication, and providing the community with high-quality services. We also take satisfaction in giving young people and veterans the chance to acquire useful trade skills that boost their self-esteem and long-term worth. We aim to concentrate on practical services and talents that are important, remain relevant, and cannot be easily replaced in a world that is rapidly changing.
I am most proud of the company’s brand because it represents opportunity, discipline, and service. To me, Veteran Gunn Services is more than just a business; it is a platform for fostering trust, imparting trade skills, and producing fulfilling work for individuals seeking opportunities to advance. I want readers to understand that our brand has a purpose. One job at a time, we are here to serve, perform exceptionally well, and contribute to the development of stronger communities.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk, in my opinion, is an essential component of development but should not be taken lightly. Risk, in my opinion, is about making deliberate choices based on preparation, purpose, and confidence in the task at hand. I do not think it is okay to be careless, but I do think you have to be willing to push yourself if you want to create something worthwhile.
One of the biggest risks I have ever taken was starting and expanding my business. It required juggling employment, school, and personal obligations while devoting time, effort, and resources to an endeavor with little assurance of success. When you choose to start from scratch, there is always uncertainty, particularly when you are attempting to provide opportunities for others in addition to yourself. However, I was prepared to take that action because I had faith in the vision.
In my opinion, staying still and doing nothing is frequently the greater risk. The secret, in my opinion, is to take calculated chances, learn from your mistakes, and maintain the discipline necessary to make necessary adjustments. Even in situations where the road seemed unclear, that kind of thinking has enabled me to keep going.
