Exploring Life & Business with Kasey Bentley of Biz Position

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Bentley.

Hi Kasey , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Entrepreneurship has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up on a Christmas tree farm that my grandfather started, so I saw firsthand what it takes to build something from the ground up. Running a small business was not an abstract idea in my family—it meant hard work, resourcefulness, long days, and finding ways to keep moving forward when there was no obvious roadmap.

My own path into marketing and website design began through music. I owned and operated a recording studio and became heavily involved in promoting artists, projects, events, and the studio itself. I quickly learned that creating great music was only part of the equation. Artists and businesses also needed strong branding, effective promotion, and a professional online presence if they wanted people to discover them and take them seriously.

That need pushed me to begin learning website design and digital marketing. At first, I was simply trying to solve problems for my own business and the musicians I worked with. Over time, I realized that I had a real talent for understanding how a business should present itself, communicate its value, and connect with the right audience.

One of the earliest major opportunities in my career came when I landed Silver Companies as my first significant client. I had the opportunity to build CentralParkToday.com and later work with Silver Companies on the website for the Quantico Corporate Center. Those projects gave me invaluable experience working with a prominent organization, managing large-scale website content, and creating digital platforms designed to serve both businesses and the communities around them.

From there, my work continued to grow beyond website design into search engine optimization, local visibility, reputation management, social media, branding, and broader marketing strategy. That evolution eventually became Biz Position.

Today, Biz Position helps businesses strengthen their position in the marketplace by becoming easier to find, easier to trust, and easier to choose. We combine practical marketing strategy with creative execution, and we approach every client’s business as if it were our own. My background—from growing up on a family farm, to running a recording studio, to working with major commercial developments—has shaped the way I lead the agency. I understand both the ambition behind building a business and the real-world challenges that come with it.

Biz Position was not created from a textbook business plan. It grew organically from solving real problems, recognizing opportunities, and continually expanding the ways I could help businesses succeed. That same entrepreneurial mindset still drives everything we do today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges has been that my path was not linear. I did not begin with a large team, outside funding, or a perfectly defined business model. I learned by doing—taking on projects, solving problems, developing new skills, and gradually expanding from website design into SEO, branding, reputation management, social media, and strategic marketing.

There were times when I had to balance growing Biz Position with other work and personal responsibilities. That meant building the business during evenings, weekends, and whatever time I could carve out. It required a great deal of persistence, especially during periods when progress felt slower than I wanted it to be.

Another challenge has been helping business owners understand that marketing is not just about having a nice-looking website or posting occasionally on social media. A business can offer an excellent product or service and still struggle if people cannot find it, understand it, or trust it. Much of my work has involved educating clients about the importance of consistent visibility, strong positioning, and long-term strategy.

Like many small business owners, I have also had to learn when to evolve. Technology, search engines, social platforms, and consumer behavior are constantly changing. What worked five years ago may not work today. Staying effective requires continuous learning and the willingness to rethink your approach.

There have also been setbacks, projects that did not go as planned, and opportunities that did not develop the way I hoped. Each one taught me something valuable about communication, systems, client selection, expectations, and the type of agency I wanted Biz Position to become.

Those challenges have ultimately made the business stronger. They taught me to be resourceful, adaptable, and focused on practical results. They also gave me a deeper understanding of the pressure many business owners face, because I have experienced that pressure myself.

I think that is one of Biz Position’s greatest strengths. We do not approach marketing from a distant or purely theoretical perspective. We understand what it feels like to build something, take risks, work within limitations, and keep pushing forward. That experience shapes the way we serve our clients today.

We’ve been impressed with Biz Position, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Biz Position is a full-service marketing agency focused on helping businesses become easier to find, easier to trust, and easier to choose.

We specialize in the areas that shape how a company is discovered and perceived online, including website design, search engine optimization, Google Business Profile management, online reviews, business listings, social media, branding, content development, and strategic marketing. We also provide fractional CMO-style support for businesses that need experienced marketing leadership but may not be ready to hire a full-time marketing executive or build an internal department.

What we are best known for is helping businesses improve their overall visibility and positioning—not simply completing isolated marketing tasks.

A company might have a good website but struggle to appear in local searches. It might rank well but have weak reviews. It might post consistently on social media but lack a clear message or strategy. All of those individual pieces influence whether a potential customer discovers the business, trusts it, and ultimately decides to make contact.

Our job is to look at the entire picture.

That philosophy led to the development of our Business Visibility Assurance service, which brings together many of the most important components of a company’s online presence. Instead of treating websites, search visibility, reviews, listings, content, and social media as unrelated services, we manage them as parts of one coordinated visibility system.

I believe that is one of the biggest things that sets Biz Position apart. We are not interested in selling businesses a collection of disconnected marketing products. We want to understand where the business is today, where it wants to go, what is preventing it from getting there, and which marketing activities will actually make a meaningful difference.

We also understand small and growing businesses because we have lived that experience ourselves. I know what it is like to work within limited budgets, balance competing priorities, and wonder which marketing investment is going to produce the greatest return. That perspective keeps us practical. We do not recommend complicated campaigns simply because they sound impressive. We focus on building a strong foundation, creating consistent visibility, and making marketing manageable for the client.

Another important part of our approach is that we try to become a genuine strategic partner. Many business owners know they need better marketing, but they do not necessarily have the time, internal staff, or technical knowledge to coordinate everything effectively. They may be working with several vendors who are not communicating with one another, or they may be trying to manage everything themselves while also running the business.

Biz Position helps bring clarity and cohesion to that process. We identify gaps, establish priorities, develop the strategy, and help execute the work. Depending on the client, that might involve rebuilding a website, improving local search rankings, strengthening their reputation, creating a content plan, refining their brand message, or developing an entire marketing roadmap.

Brand-wise, I am especially proud of what the name Biz Position represents. Effective marketing is ultimately about positioning—where a company appears, how it is perceived, what makes it different, and why customers should choose it. We help businesses establish a stronger position both online and within their marketplace.

I am also proud that the agency has grown organically from real experience. Biz Position was not created simply because marketing seemed like an attractive industry. It developed through years of building websites, promoting businesses, solving visibility problems, adapting to new technology, and learning what actually helps organizations grow.

The main thing I want readers to know is that good marketing should not feel like smoke and mirrors. It should help a business communicate more clearly, reach the right people, build credibility, and create opportunities.

At Biz Position, we call that relentless visibility. It means helping deserving businesses stop being overlooked and start receiving the attention, trust, and opportunities they have worked hard to earn.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned is that success is rarely the result of one big breakthrough. It is usually built through consistency, adaptability, relationships, and a willingness to keep moving forward even when progress is slower than expected.

Early in my journey, I sometimes believed that the right website, campaign, client, or opportunity might suddenly change everything. Those moments can certainly create momentum, but sustainable growth comes from repeatedly doing the fundamentals well—showing up, delivering quality work, communicating clearly, learning from mistakes, and continuing to improve.

I have also learned that you do not need to have every step figured out before you begin. My career grew from running a recording studio, learning to market music, teaching myself website design, and saying yes to opportunities that stretched my abilities. Each stage gave me skills and experience that prepared me for the next one, even when I could not yet see where the path was leading.

Another major lesson has been the importance of listening. The best marketing does not begin with a tactic; it begins with understanding the business, its customers, its challenges, and its goals. Sometimes the service a client initially asks for is not the solution they truly need. Our responsibility is to look deeper, ask the right questions, and recommend what will actually help them move forward.

Perhaps most importantly, I have learned that trust is the real foundation of business. Clients may initially hire you because of your skills, portfolio, or ideas, but they continue working with you because they trust you to care about their success, tell them the truth, and follow through on your commitments.

That lesson has shaped Biz Position. We are always learning, adapting, and expanding what we can offer, but the core remains the same: do meaningful work, treat people well, remain visible, and keep building.
