Exploring Life & Business with Precious Chew of Grace and Grind

Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious Chew.

Hi Precious, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey with Grace & Grind Fitness is one that is rooted in faith, family, education, and a passion for helping others become the best versions of themselves.

First, I have to give credit to my parents. They have played an important role in my life and helped shape the woman I am today. Their influence, support, and the lessons they instilled in me have contributed to my drive to keep pushing forward, even when life doesn’t go exactly as planned. I’m also a proud mother to my son, Gracen, who inspires me in more ways than he will ever know. In many ways, Grace & Grind is a reflection of him, too. The name combines “Grace” and “Gracen” with the word “Grind,” representing the importance of giving yourself grace while remaining committed to the work it takes to grow.

Education has always been important to me. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Norfolk State University in 2014 and later earned my Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration in 2018. My educational background helped me develop an appreciation for health, wellness, and the business side of making a meaningful impact. But beyond the degrees, fitness has always been something I genuinely care about.

My passion goes beyond helping someone lose weight or reach a certain number on the scale. I want people to recognize their strength, build confidence, develop healthy habits, and understand that fitness is about so much more than appearance. It’s about becoming stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally. I know that growth takes consistency, patience, discipline, and grace, and I want to help others embrace that process.

Grace & Grind Fitness was born from a vision that God placed on my heart. I wanted to create something that would allow me to combine my love for fitness with my desire to encourage, educate, and empower others. I wanted to build a community where people feel supported, where they can be held accountable without being judged, and where they understand that progress doesn’t require perfection.

Building this business has been a journey of learning, stepping outside my comfort zone, and trusting the vision even when I couldn’t see every step ahead. From developing fitness programs and offering coaching to creating digital products and building a community, I’m learning what it truly means to turn a passion into a business. There have been challenges and moments of uncertainty, but my faith continues to remind me that every season has a purpose.

Today, Grace & Grind Fitness represents more than workouts and nutrition. It represents showing up for yourself, giving yourself grace on the hard days, and putting in the work even when motivation isn’t there. My goal is to continue growing the brand into a space that helps people transform their relationship with fitness and themselves.

At the end of the day, I want Grace & Grind to remind people that you don’t have to have everything figured out to get started. You just have to be willing to take that first step, trust the process, and keep grinding, with grace. 🩵

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! Like anything worth building, Grace & Grind has come with its share of challenges, uncertainty, and growing pains.

One of my biggest struggles has been learning how to balance being a mother, managing my responsibilities, working toward my personal goals, and building a business at the same time. There have been moments when I’ve had to step outside my comfort zone, learn things I had never done before, and figure things out as I go.

I’ve also experienced unexpected changes in my career that challenged me to reevaluate my direction and trust God’s plan, even when I couldn’t see the full picture. Those experiences have taught me that sometimes what feels like a setback can become an opportunity to grow, redirect your focus, and pursue something you’ve been called to do.

Building a business requires more than passion. It takes consistency, patience, sacrifice, and a willingness to keep showing up when things aren’t moving as quickly as you would like. There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes that people don’t always see, especially when you’re building something from the ground up.

Through it all, I’m learning to give myself the same grace that I encourage others to give themselves. I remind myself that I don’t have to have everything figured out today. I just have to keep learning, keep trusting God, and keep putting in the work.

That’s really what Grace & Grind represents to me: giving yourself grace through the difficult seasons while continuing to grind toward the vision God placed on your heart. 🩵

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Grace & Grind Fitness is a faith-centered fitness and wellness brand founded on the belief that you can give yourself grace while still holding yourself accountable. Our motto is simple: Give yourself grace, but never stop grinding.

Grace & Grind was created out of my passion for fitness and my desire to help others become healthier, stronger, and more confident, both inside and outside the gym. As someone with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration, I wanted to combine my educational background with my passion for wellness and create something that could make a meaningful impact on people’s lives.

We specialize in fitness coaching, personal training, accountability, fitness and nutrition education, and digital fitness resources. Our offerings are designed to help people build sustainable habits, improve their relationship with fitness, and work toward their individual goals. We also offer community-based experiences, including our Grace & Grind Sisterhood, where women can find encouragement, accountability, affirmations, and a space to grow together.

What sets Grace & Grind apart is our approach. We understand that fitness is not one-size-fits-all, and transformation is about more than a number on the scale. It’s about consistency, discipline, mindset, and learning how to keep going even when life gets challenging. We want people to know they don’t have to be perfect to make progress. You can have difficult days, experience setbacks, and still show up for yourself.

Faith is also an important part of our foundation. I believe the vision behind Grace & Grind was placed on my heart by God, and I want that foundation to remain evident in how the brand serves and encourages others. My goal is to create an environment where people feel supported, empowered, and reminded that they are capable of more than they realize.

One of the things I’m most proud of brand-wise is seeing Grace & Grind grow from an idea into something tangible. From developing programs and digital products to building an online shop and creating opportunities for community, every step represents faith, hard work, and a willingness to bet on myself. I’m proud that I’m building a brand that reflects my values and gives me the opportunity to serve others through something I’m genuinely passionate about.

I also love that the name has a personal meaning. “Grace” represents giving yourself room to grow, while “Grind” represents the commitment to keep working toward your goals. The name also incorporates my son, Gracen, who is one of my greatest inspirations. That makes this brand especially meaningful to me because it represents both my passion and something personal to my family.

Ultimately, I want readers to know that Grace & Grind Fitness is for the person who is ready to start, start again, or take their fitness journey to the next level. Whether you’re looking for personal training, accountability, fitness resources, or a supportive community, there is room for you here. We are building more than a fitness brand; we are building a movement that encourages people to care for themselves, trust the process, and keep showing up, with grace and with purpose. 🩵

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe risk-taking is an important part of growth. Sometimes, the very things we pray for require us to step outside of our comfort zones and trust ourselves enough to take that first step, even when we don’t have all the answers.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that I’ve always been the biggest risk-taker, but building Grace & Grind Fitness has challenged me to become one. Taking an idea that God placed on my heart and turning it into a real business has required me to put myself out there, invest in my vision, learn new skills, and be willing to try things I’ve never done before. From developing fitness programs and digital products to launching my online shop and putting my brand in front of people, every step has required me to take a chance on myself.

One of the biggest risks has been choosing to believe in what I’m building, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. Entrepreneurship can be intimidating because you’re putting your time, energy, resources, and sometimes your own confidence on the line. There are no guarantees that every idea will work or that every investment will pay off. But I’ve learned that staying in your comfort zone can also come with a risk: never finding out what you’re truly capable of accomplishing.

As a mother, I also understand that my decisions affect more than just me. That has taught me to approach risk with intention. I don’t believe in taking risks just for the sake of taking them. I believe in praying about decisions, doing my research, thinking things through, and then having the courage to move forward when something aligns with my purpose.

My faith plays a huge role in how I approach uncertainty. I may not always understand the timing or see the entire path ahead, but I believe that I can trust God while still doing my part through preparation, discipline, and hard work.

If there’s one thing I’m learning, it’s that being brave doesn’t mean you aren’t afraid. It means you refuse to let fear make every decision for you. I’m proud of myself for being willing to start, to learn as I go, and to keep building Grace & Grind even when the journey feels uncertain. Sometimes the biggest risk is believing that the vision inside of you is worth pursuing and then having the courage to do something about it.
