Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Lans.
Hi Alexis , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is one of faith, perseverance, family, and learning to walk in the purpose God placed on my life.
I didn’t get to where I am today because everything was perfectly planned out. There were different seasons of my life that shaped me, stretched me, and taught me who I was. Looking back, I can see that even the difficult seasons were preparing me for the woman I would eventually become. Family has always been a huge part of who I am. I am a wife and a mother of five, and so much of what I do is motivated by the desire to create a legacy for my family while also showing my children what faith, hard work, determination, and service look like. My faith is the foundation of everything. Years ago, I felt God pulling me into a deeper relationship with Him and calling me to serve people in a greater way. What began simply as a desire to pray for and encourage others eventually grew into Breakthrough Ministries. In 2018, I began hosting a prayer line where people could come together, share their prayer requests, worship, and seek God. Over the years, that ministry continued to grow.
In 2022, I was ordained as a pastor. Ministry for me has never been about having a title or standing behind a pulpit. It is about reaching people wherever they are. I have preached, taught Bible study, baptized people in the lake, prayed with people during some of the hardest moments of their lives, hosted ministry events, and written my book, Encounters with God: Experiencing God’s Presence. At the same time, God was also opening another door for me through real estate.
When I entered real estate, I knew I wanted to do more than simply sell houses. A home represents so much to a person. It can represent stability, security, a fresh start, generational wealth, or the place where a family will create memories for years to come. I decided early on that I wanted my clients to feel like they mattered. I wanted to listen to what they needed, fight for their best interests, educate them through the process, answer their questions, and be present from beginning to end. That commitment became a major part of my business. Over the last five years, I have had the privilege of helping more than 125 families buy and sell homes throughout Virginia. I work with first-time buyers, sellers, veterans, investors, families relocating to the area, and people who sometimes believed homeownership was out of reach for them. There is nothing like watching someone receive their keys after knowing everything they had to overcome to get there. That is where my slogan, “Lans Get Them Keys,” represents more than marketing to me. Behind every set of keys is somebody’s story. One of the biggest things that sets me apart is that I genuinely care about the people I serve. My clients are never just another transaction. I pay attention to what they want, what they need, and what they are trying to accomplish for their families. Real estate can be emotional. Deals can become complicated. Sometimes there are disappointments and unexpected obstacles. My job is not only to negotiate contracts and sell houses. My job is to remain steady, find solutions, advocate for my clients, and help them keep moving forward. My ministry and my real estate career may look like two completely different worlds, but to me they are connected by the same thing: serving people. Whether I am helping someone pray through a difficult season or handing a family the keys to their new home, I believe God has placed me in positions where I can encourage people, help people, and remind them that their current circumstances do not have to be the end of their story. Getting to where I am today has required sacrifice. It has required discipline, long days, prayer, faith, and continuing to move forward even when I could not see exactly how everything was going to work out. I have also learned that success is not just about awards, numbers, sales, or recognition. Success to me is being able to look at my family, my ministry, the people I have helped, and the lives I have touched and know that what I am building has meaning. I am still growing. I am still learning. And I still believe there is much more ahead. If there is one thing my journey has taught me, it is that you do not have to have every part of your life figured out before God can begin using you. Sometimes you simply have to be willing to take the next step. What started as faith, determination, and a desire to help people has grown into a career, a ministry, a business, and a legacy that I am incredibly grateful to continue building. At the heart of everything I do, I am still simply Alexis Lans: a wife, a mother, a woman of faith, a pastor, a real estate professional, and someone who genuinely loves seeing other people win.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. There have been seasons of disappointment, uncertainty, exhaustion, and times when I had to keep showing up for everyone else while privately dealing with my own struggles. Balancing being a wife, mother of five, pastor, and businesswoman has not always been easy. Real estate has brought long hours, stressful deals, setbacks, and moments when I had to start over. Ministry has also taught me that even while encouraging others, there are times when I need encouragement too. Through it all, my faith has kept me grounded. I have learned that difficult seasons do not have to define you. They can strengthen you, teach you perseverance, and prepare you for what is next. The road has not been easy, but it has been worth it. Every challenge has helped shape the woman I am today.
We’ve been impressed with Lans Get Them Keys Alexis Lans Real Estate Agent, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a real estate agent and investor serving buyers, sellers, and investors throughout Virginia. I specialize in helping first-time buyers, military and VA clients, sellers, families relocating, and investors. I also flip homes, which gives me hands-on experience with renovations, property potential, resale value, and what it takes to turn a house into a market-ready home.
What sets me apart is how personally I take each client’s journey. I do not look at people as transactions. I listen to what they need, educate them through the process, advocate for them, and stay involved from the first conversation through closing.
Over the past five years, I have had the privilege of helping more than 125 families buy and sell homes. I am most proud of the trust my clients place in me and the relationships that continue long after the keys are handed over. My brand, “Lans Get Them Keys,” represents persistence, service, and results. Whether I am helping someone purchase their first home, sell a property, build an investment portfolio, or transforming a home through a flip, my goal is always to help people make smart real estate decisions and move confidently into their next chapter.
How do you think about luck?
I honestly do not look at my life or business as luck, good or bad. I believe in God’s timing, favor, hard work, and being prepared when opportunities come. There have been doors that opened unexpectedly and others that closed when I wanted them to stay open. Looking back, I can see that even some of the disappointments redirected me toward something better. In business, opportunities may come your way, but you still have to put in the work. The success I have experienced has come through faith, consistency, building relationships, serving people well, and refusing to give up when things did not go as planned.
I believe what is meant for me will find me, but I also understand that faith has to be accompanied by action.
