Today we’d like to introduce you to Mylira Cary.
Hi Mylira, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story began long before I ever had a business, a license, a degree, or a title. It began with my own journey of learning how to heal, find my voice, and believe that my life had purpose. Some of the experiences that could have silenced me ultimately became the foundation for the work I do today. I made a commitment that my pain would not be wasted and that, as long as I have a voice, I would use it to help others recognize that their lives are worth living.
I entered the social work profession with a desire to help people heal beyond their circumstances. After earning my Bachelor of Social Work from Norfolk State University and Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California, I continued developing as a clinician, trauma professional, clinical supervisor, leader, educator, speaker, and coach. Over the years, I realized that transformation could not be confined to the therapy room. Mental health affects how we lead, work, parent, build relationships, pursue purpose, and show up in the world.
That realization led me to establish M. Green Enterprises, LLC in September 2016. What started as a vision to bridge mental health and the workplace grew into a platform for training, speaking, consultation, professional development, suicide prevention, and holistic wellness. In 2023, I expanded that vision by founding The Metamorphosis Healing Experience, LLC, creating another avenue to help people move beyond their experiences, become unstuck, and confidently embrace who they are.
Today, I am Dr. Mylira Cary, Elite Transformation Strategist, and my work has expanded across clinical practice, organizational leadership, education, coaching, speaking, writing, and ministry. I have earned my Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, serve in behavioral health leadership, teach as an adjunct professor, author books and resources, and continue developing Mylira Transforms as the evolution of a vision that began years ago.
But despite everything that has changed, the heart of my work has remained the same: people. I want people to know they are enough, that healing is possible, and that what happened to them does not have to determine what happens next.
My story is ultimately one of metamorphosis. I didn’t build a career separate from my experiences; I allowed what I survived, what I learned, and what I was called to do to become part of how I serve. My mission is to help others do the same: to heal, become empowered, transform, and live on purpose.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. In many ways, Mylira Transforms was born through transformation of my own. Building a career and businesses while navigating personal loss, major life transitions, health challenges, motherhood, relationships, education, and my own healing has required me to repeatedly practice the very things I encourage others to do.
Entrepreneurship has also taught me that purpose does not eliminate uncertainty. There have been seasons when business was thriving and seasons when I questioned what was next. I have experienced changes in income, fewer clients and speaking opportunities, professional transitions, and moments when I had to pause parts of the business I deeply loved. One of the hardest lessons has been learning that a pause does not necessarily mean the vision has ended. Sometimes the way you carry the vision has to change.
There have also been deeply personal challenges behind the professional accomplishments. I have experienced grief and pregnancy loss, significant health challenges, changes in relationships, career transitions, and the pressure of pursuing advanced education while continuing to lead and serve others. Those experiences challenged my understanding of strength. I learned that strength is not always pushing through; sometimes it is allowing yourself to grieve, receive support, reevaluate, and begin again.
Even earning my Ph.D. came with obstacles. There were delays and unexpected challenges along the way, but completing that journey reinforced something that has become central to my story: transformation rarely happens in a straight line.
Looking back, I would not describe my journey as smooth, but I would describe it as purposeful. Every version of me has had to release something so the next version could emerge. That is why metamorphosis is more than branding for me; it represents how I live, lead, and serve. Today, when I tell someone that their current chapter does not have to be their final chapter, I am not simply sharing a concept. I am sharing something I have had to live.
We’ve been impressed with M. Green Enterprises, LLC and The Metamorphosis Healing Experience , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Mylira Transforms is more than a brand. It is the culmination of nearly a decade of helping people transform how they see themselves, how they heal, how they lead, and how they live. What began with M. Green Enterprises in 2016 has evolved into an ecosystem that brings together mental health, leadership development, education, coaching, speaking, writing, and faith centered purpose.
At the heart of my work is metamorphosis. I specialize in helping individuals and organizations move from simply identifying what is wrong to understanding what happened, discovering what is possible, and developing the tools to move forward. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, trauma professional, organizational leadership scholar, educator, speaker, author, and strategist, I am able to approach transformation from multiple perspectives. Whether I am speaking on a stage, training an organization, teaching future helping professionals, developing leaders, or creating resources for someone navigating their personal healing journey, the goal remains the same: healing, empowerment, transformation, and purpose.
What sets Mylira Transforms apart is that I do not believe transformation is one dimensional. I often speak about the interconnectedness of the mind, body, spirit, and purpose. You cannot always address someone’s professional performance without considering their wellness. You cannot talk about leadership without discussing self awareness. You cannot discuss purpose while ignoring healing. My clinical background allows me to understand people, while my organizational leadership training allows me to understand systems. Bringing those worlds together enables me to serve both the person and the environments in which people live and work.
My offerings reflect that philosophy. Through the brand, I provide transformational speaking, organizational training and consultation, leadership and professional development, coaching, mental health and trauma informed education, books and resources, and community focused programming. My work frequently addresses trauma, confidence, identity, suicide prevention, mental wellness, leadership, workplace wellness, and helping people become unstuck so they can confidently use their gifts.
Brand wise, I am most proud that the mission has remained recognizable even as the brand has evolved. Before there was Mylira Transforms, there was a woman who believed her own experiences could become a bridge for someone else’s healing. Nearly ten years later, the platforms, credentials, audiences, and opportunities may look different, but that commitment has not changed. My career truly has become an extension of my ministry and my life’s work.
I want readers to understand that Mylira Transforms is not about becoming somebody else. It is about becoming more fully who you were created to be. Transformation does not erase your story. It teaches you how to integrate it without allowing it to imprison you. Ultimately, I want every encounter with my brand to leave people with this understanding: you are enough, your life has value, your story is still being written, and transformation is possible.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
There are a few resources that have played a meaningful role in how I approach life, purpose, and personal growth. The Bible is my ultimate guide. It grounds my faith, shapes how I make decisions, and reminds me that my purpose is greater than any position, accomplishment, or difficult season.
Two resources that have also influenced my mindset are Three Feet from Gold and the book and movie The Secret. Three Feet from Gold reminds me not to give up simply because I cannot yet see the breakthrough. The Secret helped me become more intentional about my thoughts, expectations, vision, and the energy I give to what I am pursuing.
I also use the Everkind journal as a space to process my thoughts. Journaling gives me an opportunity to slow down, reflect, gain clarity, express gratitude, and work through what I am carrying internally.
Together, these resources support different parts of me. The Bible keeps me grounded in God, Three Feet from Gold reminds me to persevere, The Secret encourages intentionality in my thinking, and journaling gives me space to process the journey.
