Hi Denise, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started in Occoquan just two months before COVID began, and when everything changed, we pivoted to a neighborhood market to help our neighbors and support the community. We’ve been voted one of the best in Northern Virginia pretty much ever since, and when we moved to Belmont Bay, we wanted to re-create a place that felt welcoming, easygoing, and truly be a part of the neighborhood. We hoped to build somewhere people could come in, relax, enjoy a good meal, and feel right at home.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It took us more than three years to open Belmont Bay. Between county delays and personal setbacks, it became a major hurdle to overcome, but with the neighborhood cheering us on, we pushed through and came out on the other side.

We specialize in creating a casual, comfortable experience where neighbors can come in, relax, and feel at home. What sets us apart is our commitment to the community, our persistence in bringing this vision to life, and the warm, local feel we’ve worked hard to create. We’re most proud of building a place that feels easygoing, inviting, and truly part of the neighborhood.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
For David and me, it’s really about staying organized, staying inspired, and keeping the business moving forward together. We both lean on calendars, notes, and planning tools to keep track of the day-to-day, and we like traveling, reading or listening to things that give us new ideas about hospitality, leadership, and building a strong community business. We’re also inspired by stories of resilience and teamwork, because that’s been such a big part of our own journey.
