Inspiring Conversations with Grace Chicca of Monarch Properties with Compass Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Chicca.

Hi Grace, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
10 years ago, I left a career in software (FSU Information Systems grad) and took a leap into real estate in the DMV. The early years were pure grind; very long hours, every weekend and holiday, and learning everything from the more seasoned agents and mentors.

Consistency is key and the key to success is simple: stay focused on what matters, build real relationships, treat people well, and respect the other agents at the table.

Over time I developed a repeatable process and healthier boundaries so I can deliver at a high level without burning out. My philosophy is simple: work hard, stay focused, treat people well, and respect other agents (because reputation is everything in this business). Today, I run my business with strong systems, clear communication, and a commitment to helping people make smart, confident decisions.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I think if it were, more people would stick with it.

Real estate is dynamic by nature; every day brings something new. We see market shifts, client emotions, negotiations, inspection surprises, lender timelines on a daily basis. The biggest struggle early on is breaking in: finding your rhythm, building consistency, and earning trust before you have a long track record. That phase can feel like a lot of effort before the results show up.

The other major challenge has been work-life balance. Burnout is real and early on I made a lot of sacrifices. The nights, weekends, missed family time, and social time. That part hurt, because the work is never truly “done.” Over time, I learned that long-term success requires boundaries, systems, and protecting your time so you can show up at a high level without burning out.

So no, it has not been smooth, but it’s been worth it!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Monarch Properties with Compass Real Estate?
I’m Grace Chicca, a Compass real estate advisor and founder of Monarch Properties, serving clients across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia with a strong focus on Falls Church, Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax County.

My business is about helping people make confident decisions during one of life’s biggest transitions. I specialize in guiding both buyers and sellers through complex transactions with a clear plan, strong communication, and calm, strategic negotiation. Clients know me for being highly organized, detail-driven, and proactive meaning I don’t just react to problems, I anticipate them and solve them early.

What sets me apart is the combination of systems and service. Before real estate, I worked in the software sector and earned my degree in Information Systems from Florida State, so I naturally bring a structured, process-oriented approach to an industry that can feel chaotic. That shows up in everything from data-backed pricing and launch strategy to how I manage timelines, vendors, and contract details.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the reputation I have built for professionalism and consistency. I believe relationships matter more than anything! How you treat clients, how you collaborate with other agents, and how you show up in the community. My clients get a “concierge-level” experience: strong local guidance, honest advice, trusted vendor connections, and thoughtful support before, during, and after closing.

If readers take one thing away, I hope it is this: my brand is built on doing the work the right way. With clear strategy, respectful advocacy, and a steady so clients feel informed, empowered, protected, and genuinely cared for from start to finish.
