Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTasja Tilghman.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Khaotic Kitchen was born from an unexpected season of uncertainty, resilience, and hope.
In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was eight months pregnant and placed on bed rest. Like so many others, my world changed overnight. I was unable to work, restaurants were closing, and life felt uncertain. Instead of allowing those circumstances to define me, I turned to the one place that had always brought me peace and purpose – the kitchen.
What started as cooking meals in my small apartment for the people closest to me quickly became something much bigger. Neighbors began asking if I could cook for their families. Friends told other friends. Before long, I was serving people throughout Stafford, Virginia, and a business was born: Brunchn’tilgh LLC.
That experience taught me something I have never forgotten: food is about far more than eating. It creates connection. It comforts people during difficult seasons, brings strangers together, and gives families a reason to gather around one table.
As a mother of three boys, I see that truth every day. Our kitchen has become the heart of our home. It is where we celebrate accomplishments, talk about school, work through life’s challenges, laugh until we cry, and create traditions that belong only to us. Our life isn’t always perfectly organized – it can be wonderfully chaotic – but around our table, everyone belongs.
That realization became the inspiration behind the name Khaotic Kitchen.
‘Khaotic’ doesn’t represent disorder. It represents real life – the beautiful, imperfect moments that happen when people come together. It is the joy of holiday meals, friends cooking over cocktails, children sharing stories from their day, and families finding comfort in one another. Those are the moments that shaped me, and they are the moments I want every guest to experience.
Today, Khaotic Kitchen is the next chapter of that journey. It builds on the foundation of Brunchn’tilgh LLC while expanding into a hospitality brand centered on elevated Southern comfort food, premium seafood, genuine hospitality, and meaningful connection. My vision is to create a restaurant where every guest feels welcomed like family and every meal becomes part of a memory worth sharing.
Khaotic Kitchen is more than my business. It is my story, my family’s story, and an invitation for others to gather around the table and create stories of their own
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my biggest challenges has been navigating the natural highs and lows of entrepreneurship while finding my own rhythm in such a competitive industry. But every challenge has pushed me to grow, get creative, and go back to the drawing board with an even bigger vision. I’ve learned that sometimes the struggle isn’t a setback, it’s the very thing that pushes you toward what’s next.
As you know, we’re big fans of Khaotic Kitchen Llc . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Khaotic Kitchen is food from the heart. It’s Southern soul, bold flavors, and deep roots. As a private chef and caterer specializing in Southern cuisine, I prepare every meal as if I’m cooking for the people I love. From meal prep and family meals to event catering, love is at the center of everything I serve.
What I’m most proud of are the relationships I’ve built along the way. Khaotic Kitchen has grown throughout the DMV not simply through word of mouth, but through the love poured into every plate and shared from one customer to the next. To me, that’s bigger than food…that’s community.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is preparing Thanksgiving dinner with my mom. She didn’t play about having people in her kitchen, but somehow, there I was beside her—learning, connecting, and sharing our love through food.
My mom’s home has always been our family’s gathering place, where we celebrate everything big and small. Even today, when I visit my parents, the first place I go is the kitchen island to sit, unwind, and catch up. Looking back, I realize the kitchen has always meant more to me than food, it’s where love, family, and some of my most meaningful memories were made.
