Today we’d like to introduce you to LeTeisha Gordon.
Hi LeTeisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started by sharing my story to individuals that were in correctional facilities. My dad was incarcerated 11 1/2 years of my life along with a host of family members and friends. Visiting different institutions sharing my story turned into an organization Called A Better Day Than Yesterday Initiative Program. A Better Day Than Yesterday was developed in 2016. A Better Day is a Community based nonprofit organization that provides trauma informed services to justice impacted individuals and their families.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Really it has not felt like work. I was 8 years in when I was told that I was going on my 9th year. It has been a journey with some ups and downs but with God guiding and providing for me to continue to do this work has been amazing to witness. From the very first cook out we had in my childhood neighborhood to the last feeding in Southside Richmond, everything has always been provided. Getting started and staying focused is driven by results and impact. 2026 will be the 10th year for A Better Day Than Yesterday Initiative Program.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about A Better Day Than Yesterday Initiative Program?
