Inspiring Conversations with Nicole Stickle of The Bevy Mobile Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Stickle.

Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We’re Nicole and Kimmy, the owners of The Bevy Mobile Bar. We met years ago while bartending together at a local bar in Virginia Beach. We quickly became best friends, then roommates, and eventually moved into the corporate world. Over the years, we each got married and started families of our own, and today we have five children between our two families. Eventually, we decided to return to something we had always enjoyed and build a business of our own.

We launched The Bevy in 2024 with the goal of creating a mobile bar service that felt polished and professional without losing the personal side of hospitality. What began as an idea between two best friends has grown into a business serving weddings, private parties, and corporate events throughout Hampton Roads and parts of North Carolina. We now have two white wooden bars, a converted horse trailer bar, a growing team, and a calendar fuller than we imagined when we first started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road. We both work full time outside of The Bevy, and we are raising five children between our two families, so one of our biggest challenges has been learning how to balance our families, careers, and a growing business.

We already understood bartending and hospitality, but owning a business required us to learn everything else as we went. Pricing, contracts, bookkeeping, inventory, marketing, staffing, transportation, and event logistics all came with their own learning curves. Mobile bartending also involves far more behind-the-scenes work than most people realize. A five-hour event can require hours of planning, shopping, loading, setup, cleanup, and communication before and after the event itself.

There have been long days, mistakes, and moments when we have had to adjust quickly, but we have been fortunate to go through it together. We are very different in some ways, which has ultimately helped us. We each notice and handle different things, and we are honest with each other when something needs to change.

We’ve been impressed with The Bevy Mobile Bar, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Bevy is a dry-hire mobile bartending company serving weddings, private celebrations, and corporate events throughout Hampton Roads and parts of North Carolina. Our clients purchase the alcohol, and we handle the rest, including the bar, bartenders, mixers, garnishes, cups, ice, tools, and planning.

We offer two white wooden bars as well as our white and rose-gold converted horse trailer bar. We also help our clients create drink menus that fit their event, whether that means two meaningful signature cocktails for a wedding or a completely alcohol-free mocktail bar for a company gathering.

What sets us apart is how involved we are throughout the entire experience. We do not want to simply show up, pour drinks, and leave. We take the time to understand each event, help our clients determine what they actually need, and make sure the bar feels like a natural part of the celebration. Some of our favorite relationships have come from clients who first hired us for one milestone and later invited us back for another. That kind of trust means more to us than simply filling our calendar.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to us is the way people feel when they work with us. Most of the events we serve represent an important moment in someone’s life, and we never want to lose sight of that. We want our clients to feel supported, their guests to feel welcomed, and everyone involved to know they can depend on us.

Our families and our friendship also matter deeply to us. The Bevy was built by two best friends who are each married, raising families, and working full-time careers outside the business. Building something together while raising five children between our families has required a great deal from both of us, but it has also given the business more meaning. We are proud that our children get to watch us take an idea seriously, work through the difficult parts, and create something that belongs to us.

At the end of the day, we care about doing good work, treating people well, and building a business we can genuinely be proud of.
