Amie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I didn’t start AmieArtistry with a business plan or a long-term blueprint—I started it with a deep love for creativity, connection, and helping people feel more at home in themselves.
What began as a passion for beauty and artistry slowly turned into something bigger. I found myself drawn not just to the technical side of esthetics, but to the emotional experience clients had when they sat in my chair. The quiet moments. The trust. The way self-care could become a form of healing. I leaned into education, refined my skills, and allowed the work to evolve alongside me.
Like many small business owners, my journey hasn’t been linear. There were moments of burnout, reinvention, and learning things the hard way—but each phase shaped the foundation of AmieArtistry. Over time, it became less about offering services and more about creating a space rooted in intention, artistry, and care.
Today, AmieArtistry represents growth, resilience, and alignment. It’s a place where technique meets creativity, and where clients are treated as individuals—not appointments. I’m proud of how it’s evolved, and even more excited about where it’s going. This journey has taught me that success isn’t just about what you build—it’s about how authentically you build it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to grow while still wearing every hat—artist, business owner, administrator, and sometimes emotional support for others—often all at once. Early on, I had to navigate limited resources, inconsistent income, and the pressure to figure things out as I went, without a clear roadmap.
Another major challenge has been adapting to how vital social media and content creation have become to running a modern business. While these platforms have played a huge role in building visibility and community, consistently creating content requires time, creativity, and energy—often on top of an already full workload. Balancing being present online while staying grounded in the actual work and client experience has been an ongoing learning curve.
On top of that, there’s the very real challenge of maintaining a personal life while building something meaningful. Finding space for rest, relationships, and life outside of work—without guilt—has been just as important as learning the technical side of business.
There were also challenges around burnout and boundaries. When your work is rooted in care and creativity, it’s easy to overextend yourself. I had to learn, sometimes the hard way, that sustainability matters just as much as passion. Building systems, protecting my energy, and trusting my instincts were lessons that came through experience, not theory.
Another challenge was allowing the business to evolve. Letting go of versions of myself, partnerships, or plans that no longer aligned wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. Those moments of uncertainty ultimately became turning points that clarified my vision and strengthened the foundation of AmieArtistry and allowed me to expand to the House of Artistry.
Each obstacle taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of alignment. The challenges didn’t stop the journey—they shaped it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work sits at the intersection of artistry, wellness, and intentional care. As an esthetician and creative entrepreneur, I specialize in customized skincare, brow artistry, waxing, and permanent cosmetic services—each tailored to enhance natural features while prioritizing skin health and long-term results. I approach beauty as both a technical craft and an emotional experience, where precision matters just as much as how someone feels when they leave my chair.
What I’m most proud of is building a business that centers individuality. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all services. Every client interaction starts with listening, education, and trust, allowing the work to feel collaborative rather than transactional. That mindset has shaped not only my services, but the environment I’ve created—calm, inclusive, and rooted in intention.
What sets me apart is the way I blend creativity with care. I see my work as an extension of artistry, where attention to detail, intuition, and connection guide the process. Beyond the treatment room, I also use storytelling and content creation to share the realities of creative entrepreneurship, helping normalize growth, evolution, and balance in an industry that often prioritizes perfection and ignores the beauty of progression.
At its core, my work is about helping people feel confident, seen, and comfortable in their own skin—inside and out.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that surprises a lot of people is how structured my early path actually was. I graduated college in three years and seriously considered careers in the Coast Guard and as a U.S. Marshal. I was drawn to the discipline, service, and sense of purpose those roles offered. But over time, I realized that while structure challenges me, creativity sustains me. A life without expression didn’t align with my spirit.
Poetry has always been how I process the world—emotion, growth, and transition—while fitness has been how I stay grounded and disciplined in my body. Both require consistency, self-awareness, and resilience, and they’ve shaped how I move through business and life. Choosing a creative, people-centered path wasn’t a departure from strength; it was simply a different way of embodying it.
