Life & Work with F45 Ashburn of DC & Surrounding Areas

Today we’d like to introduce you to F45 Ashburn.

Hi F45 Ashburn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
F45 Ashburn was built by franchisee and owner Robin Vaitonis in 2019 after noticing a need for functional fitness in the Loudon County area. Nestled in the heart of Goose Creek Village, this studio became the perfect place for avid fitness goers and beginners alike. People of all walks of life come through our doors – former athletes, postpartum mothers, business professionals, and those simply trying to build healthier habits.

From its grand opening, to persevering through COVID times when class capacities were limited to under 10, to online-only workouts, to finally becoming the 5-star reviewed studio that’s standing here in 2026, F45 Ashburn is the go-to fitness studio in the area.

Studio Manager and Head Trainer Isabella Ruggio fell in love with F45 Ashburn in 2025, after years of coaching at prior F45 studios. She noticed the quality of the trainers on staff, the expansiveness of the workout floor and locker rooms, and greatest of all, the sense of community and support between members.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth ride. From the financial impact of COVID-19 and shutdown mandates, to the rebuilding phase, to seeing beloved staff come and go throughout the years, the studio has seen its fair share of obstacles. However, the bond created through regular routine, seeing the same faces each day, and working towards a common goal of fitness is something that’s persevered throughout it all.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As the Head Trainer and Studio Manager, I (Isabella Ruggio) ensure our trainers maintain a standard of coaching and expertise on the floor, plan events and socials for our members, and handle the day-to-day operations of the studio. While I also coach classes myself each week, my main role lies more behind the scenes.

However, there is nothing I love more than helping people reach their fitness goals. My background as a personal trainer, nutritionist, and certified hormone health practitioner allow me to support our members in further detail on the technical side; but my priority lies in cultivating an environment that makes fitness fun and welcoming for everybody at F45 Ashburn.

I truly believe what sets us apart at this studio is not only the skill of our staff, but the demeanor as well – every coach greets you with a smile when you walk in. They remember details of your life and love to strike up conversations. During class, they’re always willing to challenge you a little further – whether it’s picking up the heavier weight, pushing for that last rep, or to slow down and correct your form – and joke around while doing it.

It’s hard to walk into our studio and not immediately feel like each coach and member truly cares. And that’s a culture that’s been created not by one individual, but years of rapport and positivity.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
A great workout puts me in a good mood for sure. But I can’t live without music! It makes even the most inconvenient task something lighthearted and fun. You can regularly catch me dancing during workouts in the studio, or singing along while cleaning my home.
