Hi Kalina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into floral design began unexpectedly when I watched Full Bloom, a floral competition show. I was captivated by the creativity, artistry, and freedom the designers expressed through flowers. I had always considered myself an artist, but I never realized floral design could be such a diverse and expressive art form.
Inspired, I began working in flower shops, learning the industry from the ground up and eventually becoming a Lead Floral Designer and Director. Along the way, I discovered that I had my own artistic vision and wanted to create something different. I wanted to push the boundaries of traditional floral design and introduce my community to a more modern, expressive, and unconventional approach to flowers.
That vision led me to establish Alchemy Florals, where I combine my passion for art, nature, and creativity to transform flowers into unique artistic experiences.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, but I believe the most rewarding things in life rarely come easily. Some of my biggest challenges have included pursuing my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance while building my career and business, navigating negativity, and learning to balance creativity with the responsibilities of entrepreneurship. Running a business requires discipline, organization, resilience, and the confidence to trust your own vision. Building Alchemy Florals has pushed me outside my comfort zone, challenged me to take risks, and taught me the importance of surrounding myself with people who encourage growth. Ultimately, I’ve learned that talent and ambition can only take you so far. It’s consistency, integrity, and perseverance that turn a vision into reality.

As the Founder and Creative Director of Alchemy Florals, I specialize in creating artistic floral experiences that go beyond traditional arrangements. My work combines modern sophistication, sculptural design, and an appreciation for nature to create something unique and memorable. I love pushing creative boundaries and transforming ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences.
What truly sets me apart, however, is my love for people. I genuinely enjoy connecting with others, learning their stories, and finding ways to make them feel special. I believe that exceptional service goes beyond simply delivering a beautiful product. It’s about making people feel heard, valued, and cared for. Whether that means spending extra time perfecting a design, accommodating a special request, or going out of my way to make someone’s day easier, I believe the little things make the biggest difference.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built and the trust people place in me. To me, success isn’t measured solely by beautiful designs or business growth, but by the positive impact I have on the people I work with. I want people to remember not only what I created for them, but how I made them feel.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I believe the best relationships are built through genuine connection, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. One of the most valuable experiences for me has been freelancing with other successful florists. Working alongside talented designers has allowed me to learn different techniques, gain new perspectives, and grow both creatively and professionally. My advice is to surround yourself with people who inspire you, ask questions, and never assume you know everything. Mentorship doesn’t always have to be formal; sometimes the greatest lessons come from simply working alongside someone you admire. I also believe networking should be a two-way street. Don’t just focus on what others can teach you, but also on the value you can bring to them.
