Meet Amanda VandenBroek of Curious Work

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda VandenBroek.

Hi Amanda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After two decades working at traditional marketing agencies like The Martin Agency, client-side with homebuilders, and at a startup music venue, I decided it was time to focus on what truly brought me joy. That’s what led me to launch Curious Work, where I help small businesses get found online through websites, search engine optimization, and social media. Now I’m working with youth sports programs, nonprofits, wedding vendors, massage therapists, hairstylists – anyone who needs help increasing their visibility online.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Before I launched Curious Work, I unexpectedly lost my job. Not having a ready answer for “what’s next” was terrifying. After shifting my perspective and realizing I had an opportunity to do something truly fulfilling, I started Curious Work.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Curious Work?
Curious Work helps small businesses, nonprofits, and boutique brands get found online. I focus on three things that work together: websites, SEO, and social media.

Clients like working with me because I don’t speak in jargon. I listen, explain clearly, and build processes that they can follow.

Many of my clients come to me with a website that may have sat untouched for a decade. They’re a little embarrassed about it, they don’t know where to start, what to prioritize, or if they can afford to update it. I offer high-level expertise, realistic budgets, and no confusing marketing-speak. They know they can trust me to treat their business with the same care and consideration I give my own. They won’t receive a cookie-cutter template or an AI-designed site. Instead, they’ll get a thoughtful, responsive, considered design, built specifically for the business behind it.

How do you think about happiness?
My family — my husband and kids, my dog, and a group of friends who always show up for me. Sunny days at the beach or wandering a pumpkin patch in the fall. And running a business that’s ALL MINE.
