Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann Gottlieb.
Hi Ann, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up wanting to be a fashion designer, ended up going to college for Interior Design on accident after meeting someone in Greek History class. After graduating from Virginia Tech, I worked in London on high end residential and hospitality projects. Needing to return back to DC, I accepted a job with Gensler where I worked in various offices for 12 years. I then did 5 years in house at Capital One creating, developing and launching the Capital One Cafes and Airport Lounges. During COVID times I decided to go out on my own, accidentally doing residential design to start. The hope was to jump back to retail and hospitality post Covid but I realized my true design passion was high end residential. It has now been just under years of starting my business and each year has been immensely exciting.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Having enough confidence and learning to listen to my gut was the hardest. You need to really have your eyes open and pay attention to so many things since this is your creation with your name. The road has been very hard.
As you know, we’re big fans of Ann Gottlieb Design. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in high end residential with not repeating what we do twice. We are inspired by our clients and their ideas, and we love the wilder the better. We are known for colorful, bold and elegant interior design with a little edge. My personality and vast design experience set us apart. Having the background I have in residential is very rare. I am most proud of my brand attracting so many different types of clients, needs and styles. We thrive on doing something unique and different to each client. We are a full service interior design firm that can jump from interior design and architecture, interior decoration, custom cabinetry, custom lighting and furniture, procurement, white glove delivery and installation.
What are your plans for the future?
My North Star is to design a home for Taylor Swift, finish my novel, and end up on TV talking design!
