Meet Cansu Sevi of Kiln Kingdom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cansu Sevi.

Hi Cansu, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Kiln Kingdom began with a simple passion: sharing the beauty of Turkish craftsmanship and culture with our local community. What started as a small dream has grown into a family-owned business where every product is carefully selected to reflect quality, tradition, and artistry.

Over the years, we’ve expanded from offering handcrafted ceramics to a curated collection of Turkish goods, including mosaic lamps, rugs, jewelry, gourmet foods, and authentic Turkish coffee. We love creating a welcoming space where people can discover unique handmade treasures, enjoy a cup of coffee, and experience a little piece of Turkey.

Today, Kiln Kingdom is more than just a store it’s a place where culture, craftsmanship, and community come together. We’re grateful for every customer who has supported our journey, and we look forward to continuing to grow while sharing the traditions and stories behind everything we offer.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many small businesses, we’ve faced our share of challenges. From learning the ins and outs of running a business to managing inventory, importing products from overseas, and navigating unexpected obstacles, there have been many moments that tested us.

Building a customer base took time, and there were periods when things felt uncertain. We also learned that flexibility and persistence are essential, especially when dealing with changing market conditions and supply chain delays.

Despite the challenges, every obstacle has taught us something valuable. Those experiences have helped us grow stronger, improve our business, and appreciate the support of our customers even more. Looking back, the difficult moments have been just as important as the successes in shaping who we are today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Kiln Kingdom is a family-owned business dedicated to bringing the beauty of Turkish craftsmanship and culture to our community. We specialize in handcrafted ceramics, authentic Turkish mosaic lamps, handmade rugs, jewelry, home décor, gourmet foods, and premium Turkish coffee and tea. Every item in our store is carefully selected to reflect quality, authenticity, and timeless craftsmanship.

What sets us apart is the experience we create. We want every visitor to feel welcomed, whether they’re searching for a unique handmade gift, decorating their home, or simply stopping in to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of authentic Turkish coffee. Our goal is to share the stories, traditions, and artistry behind each product while creating meaningful connections with our customers.

We’re most proud of building a brand that celebrates culture, craftsmanship, and community. Rather than offering mass-produced products, we focus on unique, handcrafted pieces made by skilled artisans. We hope our customers leave with not only something beautiful, but also a memorable experience and a greater appreciation for the rich traditions behind everything we offer.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One thing that surprises many people is that many of the handcrafted pieces in our store are made by members of our own family in Türkiye. What customers see on our shelves isn’t simply sourced from suppliers it’s the result of generations of craftsmanship, passion, and tradition.

Every piece reflects the time, care, and skill that goes into handmade work. For us, this business is more than selling beautiful products; it’s about preserving our family’s heritage and sharing authentic Turkish culture with our community. Knowing that many of our products are created by the hands of our own family makes every item even more meaningful, and it’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

Starting this September, we’re also excited to introduce a brand-new experience at Kiln Kingdom our Turkish Mosaic Lamp Workshops. Once or twice each week, guests will have the opportunity to design and create their very own handcrafted mosaic lamp to take home.

During each workshop, participants will also enjoy authentic Turkish coffee and a selection of traditional Turkish desserts, making the experience about much more than creating art. It’s a chance to slow down, connect with others, experience a beautiful part of Turkish culture, and leave with both unforgettable memories and a one of a kind handmade keepsake.

Whether you’re coming with friends, family, or looking for a unique date night or solo experience, our workshops are designed to be fun, relaxing, creative, and welcoming for everyone. We can’t wait to share this special tradition with our community.
