Hi Craig, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I built Legacy Architect RVA after seeing what happens when one person carries too much and doesn’t write it down. The problem is we think we have time.
In 2007, I lost my friend Dane in Iraq. In the middle of grief, his dad and I were left sorting through accounts, logistics, memorial details, and paperwork nobody thinks about until it’s too late. We had love and support. We didn’t have clarity.
Over the years, I kept seeing the same pattern. In insurance, hospice, and hospital operations. Capable people left behind confusion, not because they didn’t care, but because no one had helped them build the right kind of document.
Then it happened to my own family. My wife’s mother passed during the pandemic, days after I’d had surgery and couldn’t work or lift a thing. While she grieved and kept working, we had to sort out arrangements, documents, accounts, and vital records, some of it here, some of it in Venezuela. A few years later, we lost her father, and we did it all again.
That’s when it stopped being about other people. If I weren’t here, my wife would be left searching through my life for answers, and without her… her family abroad and I would be lost. The thing I help people build is the thing my own family needed, twice, at the worst possible moment.
That’s why I created the Life Manual™. To help people turn chaos into clarity, so the people they trust aren’t left guessing in the dark.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My insurance job ended in January, and I had to move fast. I didn’t have the luxury of sitting around and figuring out a perfect plan. I just knew I needed to build something of my own, so I got my business license in the middle of March and started working on education, brand awareness, and everything else that comes with starting from scratch.
It’s been challenging without a steady income to support the business. Every decision feels heavier when you’re trying to grow something while keeping yourself afloat. And nowadays, it feels like every time you turn around, someone’s trying to sell you a “solution” that’s really just a scam. Half the work has been learning how to spot what’s real, what’s helpful, and what’s just noise. It’s like taking a crash course in staying secure while trying to move forward.
Then my car broke down, and without the money to fix it, in‑person events and marketing became a nightmare. It’s hard to show up physically when you literally can’t get there. I’ve had to rely on creativity, patience, and whatever resources I could find to keep things moving.
Even with all of that, I’ve kept going. I’ve focused on learning, building trust, and showing people what my brand stands for. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s real. And every challenge has pushed me to be more resourceful, more intentional, and more committed to making this business work.
This is where the story starts. Not with perfect conditions, but with determination, quick decisions, and the belief that even when things get messy, you can still build something meaningful.

Estate planners for legal documents, financial advisors for money management, insurance agents for protection, and home health workers to help with independence.
Second, I want to expand the business edition of the Life Manual. When my own business owner friends face the same problem, they need the same clarity for their company. I plan to grow the Business Life Manual so owners can protect their teams, their revenue, and their future even when they can’t answer the phone tomorrow.
Third, I want to keep growing Legacy Architect RVA as the name of personal continuity. I already work with a small number of Virginia families, and I want to keep building that network.
