Meet Eddie Paik of Aldie, VA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Paik.

Hi Eddie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Paik’s Piano House was founded by my wife and I and we continue to operate it between the two of us. There was a need for this art and trade in our area so we decided to bring our talents together to provide our services to the community. Our goal is to provide a personable and professional experience for your piano tuning and accompaniment needs. That’s why we will never hire employees. No matter how small or big the job our clients receive 100% of the passion that had created this business from the beginning. We are so grateful to the musical community here for trusting us with their piano needs.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning and operating a business will always have its challenges. I’m the janitor and CEO, and everything in between. As business grows it becomes extremely difficult to balance all the roles that I take care of for the company. Another big role I have is being a husband and father to three daughters. The biggest challenge for me was how to provide for my family and be there for all the little moments like walking them to the bus stop, being there after school, volunteering for school events, all while growing my business. To be honest, I don’t know how to answer this question because I’ve been so busy making it happen on both ends I haven’t had time to really think about how I did it. I guess I can say that I just made it happen. No secret sauce just a lot of dedication on both ends. Though the business has gone through many changes over the years, I have been running this for 9 years now, things are now smooth sailing!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Certified Piano Technician based out of Aldie, VA. I tune and repair pianos. I have many contracts with school districts, venues, churches but also tune pianos for the private residents of Washington DC and Northern Virginia. My wife has a masters degree in Piano performance. She provides piano accompaniment work for musicians, singers, dancers. She also provides piano music for corporate events and private parties.
We try to be a one stop shop for your piano needs. In most circumstances if you are looking for a pianist for an event you will also be in need of a piano tuner, and vice versa. We are proud to be able to show how being able to provide all of these services sets us apart from others.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The one feedback that I have always received from my clients was how genuine I am. People want professionalism, but at the same time if they are inviting you over to their home to work on their piano they want someone personable and easy to talk to. When starting out in this business I quickly learned that is how I will grow my client base. Not by being a salesman, but by being a friend.
