Meet John Everling of Everling Coastal Farm LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Everling.

Hi John , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My wife Debbie and I started growing micro greens for restaurants in 2016 and expanded our production to include cold pressed, unrefined cooking oils in 2020. We specialize in making extra virgin Pecan, Sunflower, and Pumpkin Seed Oils using only US grown, non- GMO seeds and nuts to produce the highest quality oils for your home cooking. We also bottle and import Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Greece and Balsamic Vinegar from Modena, Italy.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When starting the microgreens business, it was always about growing and selling the healthiest greens that had to look beautiful on a plate, so there was alot of trial and error. We started out in a greenhouse and that didn’t work well in summer heat for the plants and after moving to an environmentally controlled growhouse, we were able to yield a better crop, but there are always challenges in being a farmer. The oil business was something we had to learn from scratch and has been great. Being in technology sales for years prior to having this business was great experience but the go to market plan is totally different for the greens and the oils. Selling wholesale, retail and at Farmers Markets come with a whole other set of challenges, but it’s worth it!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Everling Coastal Farm LLC ?
