Meet Jordan Dail of Cape Charles Candy Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Dail.

Hi Jordan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After discovering Cape Charles as a possible vacation location in 2013, we spent a wonderful week vacation in the picturesque town. Almost immediately after our stay we began dreaming of owning our own historic home in Cape Charles. A few years later, our dream became a reality and we purchased a vacation home in town. Our realtor was contacted by producers of the HGTV show, Beach Front Bargain Hunt, and we were chosen to be featured on one of the episodes. “Down by the Chesapeake” aired in April 2017. Ironically, life began to change dramatically around the time we were filming the show and within a year we decided to move to Cape Charles full time and open a candy store. Our little shop opened in 2018 and is located on Mason Avenue, right in the center of town. We offer a variety of homemade fudge, handmade turtles, truffles, bulk gummies and kid candy. In 2021, we opened our 2nd location at the Norfolk Premium Outlets, naming it Red Truck Candy after our 1947 International pick-up truck mascot. Then in 2025 we opened our 3rd location at Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach. This year we opened our 4th location at Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Covid caused many challenges for our Cape Charles location. When the beaches closed, our summer looked bleak, since we are completely reliant on tourism. Thankfully when the beaches reopened in June the town boomed with people seeking a quiet remote vacation. The next few years were our best ever and Cape Charles was officially on the map!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our fresh made fudge is made using the best ingredients including real cream and butter. We always have flavors like peanut butter chocolate, cookies and cream and chocolate walnut and we also offer seasonal flavors like pumpkin pie and candy cane. Our handmade turtles are make with Georgia pecans, creamy caramel, and rich chocolate. We also offer salt water taffy and bulk gummies by the pound plus decadent truffles and kid favorites.

What matters most to you? Why?
Customer service is our top priority. My husband’s many years in his family’s retail business is what informs our goals and priorities.
