Meet Kay “Lady Kay” Lambert of SunSoulistic LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay “Lady Kay” Lambert.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Curiosity and determination to experience freedom has been my compass. I’ve never done well with feeling limited in my expression. I was an outgoing child, in the arts — fashion, dance, theatre, poetry, nothing could stop me. Except…a period cycle, a natural part of a girl’s life.

When I encountered stories centering women feeling inadequate, burdened or undergoing silent yet extreme pain that hindered their ability to exist purposefully and passionately in the world I wasn’t satisfied. I was once excited to become a woman but my questions led to answers from others that were formed from discomfort or miseducation. The predestined battle became overwhelming — unsolicited narratives paired with hormonal imbalance and no safe outlets orchestrated mental and emotional turmoil that left me in the dark for years.

At age 15, my teacher introduced me to yoga and meditation, to this day I say it has saved my mind. There was something to it, it activated a new way to fuel my expression and restored confidence.

I got here by listening and moving, even when I had to walk alone. Gratefully though, the path will often lead you to wonderful people who gift you tools, companionship or insight to help your journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A smooth road is never worth talking about, nobody cares how good it got, there’s value in overcoming obstacles, it reassures people.

Growing up as a little mixed girl, you are already confused in society trying to figure out who you are and where you belong. Throw in my thrifted outfits, talks about the dangers of birth control and what visualizations I seen in my meditations, it gives coo-coo for cocoa puffs.

While creating a career, the worse thing you can do is attempt to do it all on your own. I’ve found myself losing and suffering more than I needed to just to prove a point. Comparison will rob you of collaboration, leave you lonely, stagnant and probably doing something you didn’t even want to do.

I’ve also experienced cancer scares, depression spells, crippling debt, months of couch hopping, loss of friendships, partnerships and versions of myself I spent years protecting and building. All of it, meant to show you what you’re made of.

You don’t get to experience light if you’ve never seen dark and you don’t get discernment if you’re not delusional.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about SunSoulistic LLC?
SunSoulistic is a wellness company that cultivates experiences and inspires connection around mindfulness and menstruation through movement, sound and education. Over the past 5 years it has played a part in shaping wellness conversations and developing program initiatives across corporate, nonprofit, and community sectors.

Resonance is important to me. When you come across a person, thought or practice that holds truth in your spirit–something you can’t deny, a sensation of warmth, feelings of being seen or heard, there’s a shift and it lasts. I want the work I do to invite even the tiniest light in.

In this season, my offerings include:
– Full-Spectrum Doula Care
– Yoga Instructor
– Intuitive Sound Therapist
– Womb Practitioner
– Wellness Program Coordinator

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Every single person in my community.

To give credit to one or a few would be a disservice as the gratitude that I have for a person that gave me water when I was thirsty is the same gratitude I have for the one that walked with me for miles. Different capacities, different resources but all beneficial.

I’ve been lucky enough to encounter multiple mentors and supporters that found me at the right time. This has also brought an understanding that not everyone stays, we are all moving so stay present and grateful.

My only wish is to continue to be able to offer my hand, insight, and resources to others when needed.
