Today we’d like to introduce you to Maher Matta.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started standup comedy when I was about 20. As I progressed, I jumped into the comedy scene no matter where I was living. It wasn’t always easy because we moved a few times. Around May of 2025 I started doing more characters on Instagram and that helped me really grow my social media presence. Today, I am doing more and more standup and staying on top of Tiktok and Instagram. I have a lot of fun doing standup and performing online. My comedy revolves around me life – stroytelling.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The hardest part has been moving. But now we are officially settled in the DC area (northern Virginia.) Having three kids has also been a challenge because I can’t dedicate as much time to comedy.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have a full time. But my real passion is standup comedy and comedy acting. I am proud of my first ever comedy special that I recorded back in 2018. It’s been a while, but I am hoping that as my Instagram and Tiktok continue to grow I can make another comedy special.
I think the one thing that sets me apart is that as a comedian I am a really solid storyteller and incorporate day-to-day life into my comedy. I think being able to do accents and various characters is also unique to what I offer the comedy world.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I believe relatability is my the most important part of my comedy/online success. People like to laugh on material that can relate to. And at the end of the day, we all have the same struggles.
