Meet NATASHA FRISK of Virginia

Today we’d like to introduce you to NATASHA FRISK.

Hi NATASHA, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
### Your Story

My journey into wellness began through my own life and my desire to create a healthier, more grounded way of living for myself and my family. Over the years, that curiosity grew into a deep love for food, nutrition, movement, gardening, herbs, and the simple rhythms that help us feel more connected to our bodies and our lives.

I’ve spent the last decade learning, growing, gardening, cooking, teaching, and exploring what true nourishment looks like in real life. Becoming a mother and raising a family taught me that wellness isn’t about perfection—it’s about creating sustainable habits that support us through the different seasons of life.

My work has continued to evolve as I’ve grown and learned. I began in fitness and wellness, expanded into holistic nutrition and herbal education, and eventually found my passion in helping women understand their bodies and their relationship with food in a more empowering way. Today, I focus especially on women in midlife, helping them move away from diet culture and the constant pressure to “fix” themselves and instead learn how to nourish, listen to, and care for their bodies.

I believe wellness should feel supportive, practical, and rooted in real life. My goal is to make nutrition and healthy living less overwhelming and more approachable—whether that happens in the kitchen, the garden, a classroom, or simply through a conversation.

I’m still learning and growing right alongside the people I teach, and that is one of the things I value most about this journey. For me, wellness isn’t a destination. It’s a lifelong practice of learning how to nourish ourselves, our families, and our lives well.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
### Obstacles & Challenges

It definitely has not been a smooth or perfectly straight road. In many ways, my path has been shaped by seasons of uncertainty, change, and having to figure things out as I went.

One of my biggest challenges has been learning to trust my own voice and recognize that I didn’t have to fit myself into someone else’s definition of health and wellness. Early on, I was drawn to fitness and the more traditional ideas of health, but over time I began questioning the all-or-nothing approach that so often surrounds food, exercise, and our bodies. I realized that I wanted to help people build a relationship with nourishment that felt sustainable rather than restrictive.

Building a career and a business while raising a family has also required a great deal of patience, flexibility, and resilience. There have been seasons when I questioned what direction I was going in, had to start over, or realized that something I had built no longer reflected who I was becoming. Rebranding and redefining my work has been part of that process.

Perhaps the biggest lesson has been understanding that growth doesn’t always look like moving forward in a straight line. Sometimes it means slowing down, changing direction, letting go of what no longer fits, and giving yourself permission to begin again.

Those experiences have ultimately shaped how I work with others. I don’t teach from a place of having everything figured out. I teach from a place of curiosity, experience, continued learning, and compassion. I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by all the messages telling us what we *should* be doing, and that is a big part of why I want to help make wellness feel simpler, more realistic, and more human.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
### Employee / Professional

I’m a Midlife Nourishment Educator, holistic nutrition professional, fitness trainer, gardener, and community educator. My work centers around helping women understand how to nourish themselves in a way that supports their bodies, their families, and their real lives—especially during the changes that come with midlife.

My approach to wellness has evolved far beyond simply telling someone what to eat or how to exercise. I’m passionate about nutrition education, cooking, movement, gardening, herbs, and helping people reconnect with the everyday practices that can make wellness feel approachable and sustainable.

I’m especially passionate about helping women step away from the pressure and confusion of diet culture. I want women to understand *why* nourishment matters and to feel confident making choices for themselves rather than constantly looking for the next diet, rule, or quick fix.

What sets me apart is that I don’t believe wellness has to be complicated or perfect. I bring together education, practical skills, and real-life experience. I love teaching through food—getting into the kitchen, working with seasonal ingredients, exploring local food, and showing people that healthy nourishment can be enjoyable and accessible.

I’m most proud of creating spaces where people can learn without judgment. Whether I’m teaching a class, leading a cooking experience, working with someone on their nutrition, or talking about wellness in the community, my goal is always the same: to give people knowledge and tools they can actually use.

I’m also proud that my career continues to evolve. I’m not interested in simply following what has always been done in the wellness industry. I want to create a more grounded, compassionate, education-focused approach to health—one that helps people quiet the noise, reconnect with themselves, and learn how to nourish their lives well.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
### Likes & Dislikes

What I love most about living here is the sense of community and the connection to nature. I’m grateful to live in an area where farms, gardens, farmers markets, local businesses, and beautiful outdoor spaces are still such an important part of everyday life. I especially love the changing seasons and having the opportunity to grow food, spend time outside, and connect with other people who value local food and community.

I also appreciate that we’re close enough to Northern Virginia and all that it offers, while still having access to a slower, more rural way of life. That balance is something I really value.

What I like least is probably the growth and the traffic that comes with it. I’ve watched the area change over the years, and while growth can bring wonderful opportunities, I sometimes miss the quieter pace and small-community feeling that can be harder to hold onto as an area develops.

Overall, though, I feel very fortunate to call this area home. There’s something special about living in a place where you can still feel connected to the land, local farms, and the people around you.
