Meet Phally Kay of Virginia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phally Kay.

Hi Phally , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up in a village from Thailand and coming to the states has been an incredible journey to who I am today. The most impactful thing that happened in my life is giving my life to Christ and ever since then I have not been the same. I am currently in the Air Force and author. I joined to make my parents proud and it has given me so many opportunities to truly impact others and change lives.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life hasn’t always been easy but it’s been a blessing. From coming to a foreign country and having to learn English. I grew up more mature than others due to the responsibilities I had with my family and being the glue that holds everything together. Super grateful because it’s cultivated me to who I am and has helped me in the military. Being in a leadership position as a woman of color in the military hasn’t been easy but it’s worth it when you see the fruition of the influence you have with those around you.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently I’m serving in the Air Force as a Senior Enlisted Leader for my division. I’m an author as well and have some influence on Instagram in which I use to empower others to become the best version of themselves while taking their losses and turning them into lessons. I’m most proud of the Airmen I get to mentor and see grow within their careers not just in the Air Force but in my civilian life as well. I believe my Faith and love is what sets me apart because I do things out of the love of Christ and not truly wanting anything in return but to spread positivity throughout.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I had more responsibilities than most due to my parents not being able to speak English. However, that’s helped me become resourceful and mature so I’m grateful. Definitely was an extrovert who had a lot of friends and was well liked. I believed in treating others how I would want to be treated so I got a long with a lot of people. Always had good grades and even did sports even if I wasn’t good at them lol. I didn’t consider myself “popular” although some may say I was. I really just tried to be a light to those around me even back then without realizing it.
