Today we’d like to introduce you to Reggie Holmes.
Hi Reggie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always been interested in creativity, storytelling, and how words and images work together to inspire, engage, and move people to action. I would say I wanted to be a designer before I knew what that profession was or how to become one.
I have always been a thinker and doer. I began Enthuse Creative in late 2013 after experiencing a layoff a few years before and becoming frustrated by a lack of good opportunities. I went and did another job for a few years and that showed me that I needed to be in a space where I could be creative every day and use my thinking and doing to help others. That led me to start my own business and a desire to use my gifts to create value for myself and others. I have been working in the creative space, leading strategy and design for businesses and nonprofits ever since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, though the business has continued to grow and evolve along the way. Like many business owners, I have faced issues with finding and retaining the right clients, managing seasons of growth and limited bandwidth, and periods when I have not felt as creative or inspired. The COVID-19 pandemic was a major challenge because I had relied on networking to meet new referral partners and prospects and over night, all that went away or shifted to online settings. I have dealt with a few other challenges along the way, but overall it has been a pleasant journey, if not always easy or comfortable.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a consultant and creative, and I do both equally well. I am a thinker and a doer, and I love to work with business owners and nonprofit directors who want to leverage the power of branding to grow their organizations. Today, I still do lots of design work, but my principal focus is helping business owners solve challenges related to how their brands are positioned and perceived in the marketplace. There’s nothing more important for a business than how that business shows up. I love working with organizations to help them show up as they intend for customers who are faced with more options and outlets than ever before.
I am proud of the work I’ve done to help dozens of clients over the past 12+ years, especially helping new entities create a brand presence from the beginning and helping existing organizations refresh their existing brands or create something new altogether. I am excited about continuing to refine my own brand and offerings and help many more clients grow their influence and impact in the future.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was reserved, not shy, but quiet. I had friends, but I largely kept to myself, and I was content with being widely-respected if not popular. I was known for being a smart kid, and so that led to being trusted with leadership roles by my peers. I was very studious and focused on academics.
