Hi Mia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Dr. Mia Pham Sanchez de Lozada was born in Vietnam and came to the United States at the age of nine, where she made Northern Virginia her home. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating in the top of her class with Magna Cum Laude honors. Her academic foundation began in engineering, where she received a full academic scholarship to Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. Since founding her own Northern Virginia practice in 2006, Dr. Mia’s journey has been defined by dedication, excellence, and a deep commitment to people-centered care.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. Dr. Mia’s journey began when she immigrated from Vietnam to the United States at just nine years old, adapting to a new country, culture, and language while building a new life in Northern Virginia. Through hard work and determination, she excelled academically, earning a full scholarship to study Biomedical Engineering and later graduating dental school. Like many entrepreneurs, she also faced the challenges of building a business from the ground up when she opened her own practice in 2006. Balancing the demands of patient care, being a mother, and business ownership required perseverance and resilience. Those experiences helped shape her commitment to excellence, compassion, and creating a practice centered on helping others feel confident and cared for.
